I first visited Guntzviller's about 7 years ago with my family. We weren't sure what to expect from a taxidermy museum and went in with an open mind. We walked into the big room with the museum displays, and every corner we turned presented with another piece that blew our minds! It's not a huge area but every nook and cranny is packed with interesting information and beautiful animals! It's clear that the place was put together with love and care. The scenes are detailed and informative.
I recently took another visit to the museum by myself when I was in Traverse City for a work conference. It was just as magical as I remembered! I especially appreciate the staff at Guntzviller's. They leave you to explore the museum on your own with no pressure or awkwardness but if you do have a question, they are right there to help. If you find yourself in the Traverse City area, do not miss this unique opportunity to visit Guntzviller's...
Read moreThis place is amazing. The owner is a great guy and extremely knowledgeable. The museum is filled with a variety of different taxidermy animals in dioramas. The family has owned and operated this place for it years and created all the dioramas. There is a lot of taxidermy there that can’t be do anymore and he knows the story behind everyone of the animals. If you get the chance to have a conversation with him I suggest you give yourself the gift of that. And than you can support them by purchasing something from the gift shop. The gift shop is large and they also carry moccasins.
There is so much to see so make sure to a lot yourself sometime. Also the jacket is his and he was cool enough to let me try it on and...
Read moreI LOVE THIS PLACE!! I went on my vacation, and god when I tell you how much I want to go back, I mean it. The diversity in animals that were taxidermy, the sheer amount of rocks, crystals, and arrowheads, the history behind it all, it was AMAZING. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. It's like if all my hobbies and interests were bundled into a neat little package, and then multiplied. There were albino animals, there were birds and fish and mammals and Native American culture. The gift shop? Immaculate. I bought 5 rocks for my collection (they were beautiful) and it put me down 3 dollars. They have all the colors of rabbits feet, bone tools, jewelry, plushies, deer horn mounts, and oh so much more. Would...
