My family and i just moved from west coast to fairmont. We have been in heaven here. Awesome people. Beautiful scenery. We drove aroumd when we first got out here. Ended up near walmart. Saw the old thester. Tygart valley cinema. So we looked up the new beetleguese movie us. Elkims 8 at tygart valley mall comes up. So i wemt to site to order tickets. Where we lived before. Assigned seats. Lots of movies nearly sell out if you wait till show times. Wanted nice experiemce. When we got to tygart valley mall theater. In white hall. Which is part of fairmont. We were tild. They were tickwts for theater in elkins. Hour amd 15 minures away. So i bought ickets in person for tygart valley cinema. Whichbis what cimes up under elkins. As tygart valley mall is near me. But elkins isnt. So i emailed elkins. Aski.g for a refund. As we cleary didnt use the tickets. They saod sorry for confusion. For refund. I would have gad to go to elkins. Before movie start time. Ourchase tickets in person. Tgen request refu.d. as onljne ourchase us done through third party. Thats of course impossible. As we went to tygart valley mall at start time. So i filed a dispute with bank.in 3 months here in west virginia. This is the first time ive been ipset or dosappointed. I havent even seen so much ad an unfriemdly face. First. When i type theater near me. Whem in fairmint. Elkins cinema 8 should not only not be first. But shouldnt be on near me at all. And listing your website. Titling it at tygart valley mall. Dishonest and misleading to new folks in the area. Second, using a third party vemdor tyat youcant correct in any way. Leaving customers to sit in the cold. Down $40 in our case. With no means to reaolve. Not acceptable. Notnonly will we ne er use this theater. We wont ever plan on...
Read moreON Nov 22nd, myself, my son and a friend went to see "catching fire". Everything was great until toward the end when my son lost his cell phone and a $20 bill on the floor. using a small light to look for the items 2 young girls in front of us started saying things to us. telling us to be quiet and shut up. I told them to just chill out that we lost something and was looking for it. they just became more aggressive toward us causing a scene. they then reported to the manager that it was us causeing a disturbance. we was met coming out by 2 staff members one of which ask me if id like to step outside. I declined only to keep from going to jail of course. the more I tried to explain the situation the more the manager became aggressive to us. a crowd had gathered and we felt very embarrassed by this. all the girls wanted was to start all the drama they could and thought it was funny. we was threatened to be banned from the bldg. just for searching for our items. it seems to be imposible to get ahold of anyone to make a complaint of the treatment we received. it wouldn't have been so bad the girls being upset during the movie but it had already ended and credits were rolling. as for the one that wanted to go outside with me i'd love that off private property! the only one he scared was his self! the true problem with the elkins cenima 8 is that they have no COMPITITION and people have no choice. I do admit the facility is clean and comfortable but whats the point when the staff can do as they please and side with who ever they want without knowing the whole...
Read moreI live in Elkins, and I'll say up front I greatly value that we have a movie theater at all, and I will always give this theater my business, and you should too. The alternative is no movie theater. Staff are always friendly, prices are relatively low, and it has a great hometown feel!
However, in the 12 years I've been here, the theater has increasingly cluttered its lineup/screens with faith-based (Christian) movies and shows instead of deserving first-run mainstream movies that the public hopes to see. As of writing this review, there are 3 faith-based movies out of 9 showing.
Additionally, the theater inexplicably often puts blockbuster movies with great special effects on the smallest screen possible. To be fair, the theater only has one legitimately big screen, with the rest ranging from "small" to "home theater". Sadly, they charge the same price for a ticket regardless of what theater you're in. They also don't note on their website which movie is showing in the single big theater. That would be...
