I really hate leaving negative reviews, and I often don’t even when I should. But my experience with this jeweler has been pretty frustrating. My Fiancé bought my engagement ring here in December and there have been so many problems with it. The first issue I noticed without even looking very closely was that there was a deep gouge in the side of the ring next to the center stone setting. Frankly it looked like someone had hit it with a sledgehammer. We brought it back and pointed it out to them, and in their defense they did agree to fix it, but not without first making an excuse about the holiday rush. I was patient and responded with understanding at the time but this was my engagement ring and not really what I wanted to hear. When we picked it up there was a new problem with two of the stones in the halo having a strange gap between them that none of the other halo stones had. It bothered me immediately when we walked outside and looked at it in the sun. When we brought it back in, it totally disappeared under their lighting. (Which is another thing. The lights in there are very harsh, but in a way that you actually can’t see anything very well. Take a good look at your items outside before you leave the parking lot… ) The rep looked where we were pointing but said she didn’t see what we were talking about, steamed it for us a few times, and made it pretty clear that was all she would offer. The more time went on the more it bothered me, so I took it to another jeweler in Manhattan. They immediately saw what I was talking about and told me the diamonds would probably fall out of the gap was not fixed, and they fixed it. They also pointed out that the prongs on the center stone are slightly asymmetrical, and it almost looks as though two slightly different rings were halved and patched together. I’m probably going to have more work done on this ring to try and address some more of this, because I am too sentimental to start over with a whole new engagement ring that he didn’t propose with, but I honestly wish we had just used another jeweler at this point. This has kind of tarnished what should have otherwise been a really happy and joyful...
Read moreI have known Avo and his family since the 1990's when he first opened his shop in Emerson. My mother loved jewelry and bought many pieces from Avo. I got my wedding band in 1997 from him and now just finally had him reset my wedding band to a setting I love. My whole family shops there including 2 of my nephews who bought their fiances' engagement rings. I have now moved to Georgia and I still make sure I visit Avo's store when in NJ to pick up jewelry for myself and my family. Couldn't...
