I and my family 5 kids and my mother went on a off day to spend some quality time having fun and enjoying the experience ...when we got there(we had called ahead) there was nobody there ,,it seemed as we navigated the area with caution (nov.18th for your records..) as we thought it was odd that the male who answered the phone said "y'all were open" and so we proceeded to donate $20 into the bin and feed the suggested 4 bags of carrots to the anilmals .( my oldest 16 suffers from allergies went back to my car) as we( my 58 year old mother and my 4 year old twin boys and 2 and 7 year old daughter ) proceeded to hit midway into the labyrinth that is the McKee ranch..a older woman came out with obvious annoyance that we had feed the horses Carrots.. suggested we feed other animals,,(again no guidence from anything) she was accompanied by a white and black sheep dog who's demeanor suggested that me (marine corps veteran) be on alert status around my children as the dogs tail and posture signified caution...lady then went back towards the main house with the dog ..and we continued to try and enjoy the day with the animals and chickens( the concept there is awesome for parents who would like to expose there kids to animals and farm-like living) as we neared the middle of the park,,my oldest decided to join back up with us...walked back to us through the same way we just came .. I pointed out to my kids as she is coming back out to us ..just then that same white and black dog.. came running full attack speed at her with teeth bared an lunged for her just as she jumped out of reach of the dogs lunge...I already in movement was ready to engage the dog..who had last I saw jumped in for the attack on my daughter,, as I had to break momentary eye contact to clear a obstacle as I ran to save my daughter..who jumped a fence losing our rental car keys...now at this point I yelled( yes Marine voice..LOUD) to anyone who should have been cognizant as this is a Business aimed at FAMILIES AND CHILDERN..no response,, both myself and my mother called the phone# and surprisingly let messages ...20 mins later after finally finding keys under fear of having any one of my childern being attacked,,by the dog who I could see watching us from the house area barking...we left... mind you my twin boys and 2 year old daughter and 8 year old daughter with CP witnesses this ,, now with concern for any animal they see(rightfully so) I left 5 messages and NO RESPONSE TO THIS DAY... to this day...I left my name and number multiple times and stayed out front to see if anyone would respond... now as a Christian man and father of childern I seek to raise rightly I held my concern In the hopes that at the very least someone McKee ranch would at least answer or respond to me about my concerns... again not to this day... there is a sign that reads something along the lines as animals have teeth ,, beware..but under the circumstances of my visit there is definatly a level of neglect in the fact that there was never even a call back to me,, they know yet chose not to respond... had my daughter or anyone of my children been bit let alone my mother been bit...I am ashamed that I spent money to have had fear driven into my kids and mother,,and saddend to know that there is NO integrity in the ownership of that place...be careful when visiting there...that is all I say... I have my phone records and video..not trying to say anything other than visitors careful (animals...
Read moreVegas friends!!! Don't go to McKee Ranch Events just left there and it was a waste of money and were treated completely disrespectfully. We organized for a bunch of our families & friends to go to the pumpkin patch Friday evening after work. Sounded like a great plan to get the kids together and start the Halloween excitement. We had 8 families come....a good number of people! It's supposed to be $20 for a family and you get to take one pumpkin home. The $20 is supposed to be a "DONATION" to feed the animals. They made at least $160 off of us plus additional money for pony rides!
We arrived and happily gave a lady our $20 for our family of 4 ( 2 adults and 14month old twins) and she hands me a ripped up half of a ticket- you know the small tickets you get at a raffle/carnival but only half of the ticket it was tattered and old .
Talked with friends gave the kids carrots to give to the animals. We picked our favorite pumpkin and got ready to go. I'm juggling twin 14 month old babies while trying to hold onto a 8lbs pumpkin and he MAX THE OWNER asks for our ticket (for the pumpkin). I tried to search my pockets (juggling twins mind you) and i couldn't find this half of ticket stub that was probably only an inch squared. My wife tries to locate the ticket in my pockets. We can't find it.
He then proceeds to request $6 for the pumpkin. I explain I'm not paying for the pumpkin as I already paid $20 which includes a pumpkin. Still searching and I can't find it. he proceeds to yell at us " ALL YOU NEEDED YO DO WAS HOLD ON TO THE TICKE' Really MAT at McKee Ranch Events I'm supposed to hold on to a 1" squared piece of paper. As you read their website you will see they encourage you to bring food to feed their animals. So I'm supposed to hold on to this 1 inch ticket while I pullout carrots and apples for the kids to feed the animals? I'm sure when I was pulling out a carrot somewhere it fell out. Probably his fat goat ate it. This interaction was with the owner MAX at the McKee Ranch He was so rude. Really like we would steal a pumpkin with our hands full of sleep tired babies??? Really !!! He kept yelling at us this is why I hold you to hold onto your ticket when I gave it to you! I'm sorry MAX you were not the one who gave us the ticket and no one even told us what the ticket was for .. and then he proceeded to tell people on FB that we were trying to steal a pumpkin because we used the ticket for a pony ride ... Ourkids are 14 month old and scared of the ponies and the pony ride was an additional fee.
Whatever you do find a better pumpkin patch it is super lame, over priced and you will be subjected to rude staff who will accuse you of...
Read moreFirst off my kids had an amazing time, OVERALL. However I do have alot to say in regards to our visit for those looking for in depth information.
When you arrive (during halloween) the entrance "donation" is a $20 fee. The rest of the year entrance is free.
With your donation You receive a ticket for a free pumpkin anywhere on the property just hand it to a staff member on the way out. Any added pumpkins are an extra $6 each. Along with your ticket you receive a small bag of carrots to feed the animals.
What I wasn't prepared for were the other activities being individually priced. Face painting $6-$20. Pony rides $5. Horse ride $10. Train ride $2. Then there are toys and mini playgrounds all around the property for free. All other reviews I saw made it seem like these rides/activities were included with the $20 donation so I was a bit frustrated when I had to send my husband to the gas station to pull cash out of the atm. They accept venmo & cash app but not for all the activities. So ultimately it's easier to take cash.
Conductor Duke was THE SWEETEST!! He drove the train for the kids as well as ran the snacks/beverage van. Everything is $1. Chips, popcorn, soda, water, ice cream. So that was great.
However, there was a witch of a lady who I really wanted to cuss out. When we first entered my kids wanted to feed each horse. One was off in a separate gated area ( at the time we were not aware this horse was for the "horse ride" portion )
As my kids walked up with their carrots she began yelling at them "DON'T FEED THIS ONE! DON'T FEED THIS ONE!!! YOU CAN'T READ!?" It wasn't until we were 2ft in front of the gate where we could see "Don't feed me" scribbled on the dusty railing in thin sharpie.
I told my kids to move on and ignored her rude tone. However, later on my 4 year old decided she wanted to ride the big horse instead of the ponies. I told her she was a bit small and that this one was meant for bigger kids.
This same woman over heard while walking the horse around and pointed at my daughter and SCOLDED her "you can't ride this pink shirt you're too small! You go ride the small pony with the small kids because you can't come here!" My daughter cried.
I told the woman there are nicer ways to speak to people & she shrugged her shoulders and rolled her eyes. If it were just about her I'd probably do 1 star. But everyone else was so nice that it doesn't seem fair....
