Just back from a trip to Las Vegas which included a visit to the Antique Mall of America yesterday, Sunday October 10th. For what I like in antique shopping, this places checks all the boxes except one, which I'll get to in a moment. The store itself is large and well laid out. The variety of items available is a big plus.

Now to the reason for only one star. I found two items that I wanted to purchase. They were both reasonably priced and I was prepared to pay the asking price, no questions asked. After I completed my tour of the store I asked the lady at the front counter if it was possible to arrange shipping.

Her response somewhat floored me, not in the message, but the way it was delivered. "We don't ship anything". Not an, "I'm sorry we aren't able to offer shipping", just a flat no!

Frankly, I don't understand. If this was most any other city in the country, not shipping items would be easier to accept. This is Las Vegas! A place that is proud of the fact that 40 million people a year visit. And you can't offer shipping services?

I was getting on a plane in a matter of hours, and, it was Sunday. I had no opportunity to arrange shipping on my own.

Before you ask, these were not large items. One was a unique poker chip rack with some old cardboard chips. The other was a regular size hardback book. Total sale would have been $125.00. I would have gladly paid ground transportation shipping, which for these items might have been as high as $50.00, but I never got the chance.

This is the exact opposite of my experience last year and a visit to the Antique Alley Mall on S. Main Street nearer to downtown. I purchased a few items and they were happy to ship them to me. I gladly paid for the service.

It seems that Antique Mall of America would do well to consider an old adage about how to do business I heard many years ago. Make it easy for people to...

There's no other place like this in Vegas. It's like a swap meet (as in different sellers, operating in different booths) each with their own merchandise that usually has a type of motif. The sellers probably had a passion for collecting certain items, and now they have an abundance of them to offer. The booths are basically remotely monitored, and when you want to purchase something, you simply take the item to the front desk, and they credit the booth you bought it from. (The price tags have the price and the booth number) Everything is negotiable, but not with the front desk. Sometimes the booth owner will leave a phone number to text if you have questions, or if you go find an employee of the mall, they'll contact the seller directly for you. At any rate, the whole place has a feel of a garage sale. The items are constantly changing, there's hidden gems behind other items, there's $10,000 items, and $2 items. There's items that are so over priced, the seller must be emotionally invested in them, and there's others that are bargains. Perhaps a loved one passed away, and the family is selling the items, etc.

It's absolutely worth a trip. You won't believe your eyes. If you want to see every single item, and ensure you haven't missed a hidden gem, plan on 2-3 hours. If you only want to cruise through and find certain items (furniture, old records, vintage toys, comics, other items that are easy to spot as you glance in the booths as you pass) you could get through in an hour. And the best part is, every time you go back, you'd find more stuff you didn't see. Just be warned, the cool stuff, is almost always sold within a few days, so if you see something you like,...

This place is really cool i could spend hours in here and find so many cool things. The only reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because I personally don’t like the staff at all. they really have no customer service skills what so ever. They never welcome you when you walk in, and the girl at the counter looks like she is so unhappy to be there and always has attitude. Then when you ask any of them questions they tell you I have no idea you gotta look for yourself?! I understand these are all different vendors and you might not know what’s being brought in and being sold at the booth but you stand there for however many hours walking around and your telling me you don’t pay attention to anything or know of certain booths that may sell the one thing I’m looking for? Yea right I’m sorry but they are lazy and don’t want to help and every time I go in there the vendors are never there but one or two which sucks because I’d like to know about the product I’m buying since no one else has a single clue. I don’t know if you keep an inventory log of all of it but you should write it down for the cashiers to know. This place is just so unorganized and I wish you had smiling upbeat people who want to help no matter how long it takes, and I know for a fact this place is never over crawling with so many people that they couldn’t have taken 10 minutes to help me find what I needed in the short time I had. When I first came to this place last Christmas time, I don’t know the gentleman’s name but he was so sweet and he actually took his time with me, he took me to each place to find antique keys and show me all the booths that had them. where is he when...
