I recently visited Forgotten Barrel and was disappointed with the service I received. While the ambiance and wine selection were quite good, my experience was overshadowed by an issue with the billing.
After enjoying a bottle of Sangiovese on site, I purchased a bottle of Chardonnay to take home. Upon receiving my bill, I noticed that a tip had been added without my consent. I believe that tipping should be a voluntary gesture of appreciation, based on the quality of service provided.
When I brought this to the staff's attention, I was met with indifference and a lack of concern for my situation. Rather than addressing my concerns and ensuring I felt valued as a customer, they seemed more interested in deflecting blame.
I had hoped for a more customer-friendly approach that would make me want to return in the future. Unfortunately, the handling of this situation has left me hesitant to visit again.
I hope forgotten barrel considers this feedback and makes improvements to their customer service approach, as the quality of wine deserves a better...
Read moreWe cannot thank Alyssa Donyes and her staff at Forgotten Barrel enough. Alyssa was incredibly patient with the thousands of questions we had for her over the course of about a year. We had an entirely Vegan menu and Dessert here and she was always very sympathetic to our needs. She really made the whole process very easy. Our Wedding Day was so beautiful and we are so grateful to have gone with Forgotten Barrel. The venue is a hidden gem located in a residential area of Escondido. One of the best things was having our ceremony, photography and reception literally steps away from each other. Our guests, who drove/flew in from all over appreciated it as well. It felt very comfortable with our 45 person guest count as well (We thought it might be too big). Thank you again to Forgotten Barrel for the most memorable day...
Read moreI never would have dreamed of finding such a wonderful winery in this residential location... but I'm so happy I did! I absolutely love that Rodger and Mitzi (the owners) have done so much to honor the incredible history of this place, yet still make it feel updated and current. The staff is wonderful, especially Kaylen, who is so knowledgeable and really makes you feel at home when you walk through the door. The great wine, combined with the beautiful (rustic, yet classy) atmosphere and occasional live music, makes it the perfect place to relax and unwind at the end of the day or enjoy a picnic with friends on the weekend. I highly recommend Forgotten Barrel!...
