We are never going to the Gem Theater again. Went Saturday, August 3rd and had to sit in the balcony due to no seating on the main level. We are in our mid-sixties, so those wooden stairs aren’t easy and there is a handrail on only one side. In the balcony when the performers step off stage to interact with the audience you can only see the tops of their heads until they go back on stage. If attendees must sit in the balcony, their tickets should be reduced to compensate for the poor location and stairs to climb. The 20-minute intro by a man a woman who thanked everyone possible for the performance was overboard. Way too much talking by the woman about trivial matters. Start this nonsense at 7:15 so the show can start at 7:30. Don’t get me started on the two-bathroom stall that women stood in line to use. I dreaded going down the stairs at intermission and after standing in the bathroom line for 15...
Read moreThe show started much later than it should have so many announcements prior to which could/should have been done prior to the start of the show. The balcony seats should have been cheaper than the floor seats as you were not able to see everything going on due to the piano and spotlight being in the way. The stairs are very difficult to maneuver and there is only one loose handrail. This is a safety issue. There should be an area on the main floor for handicapped persons. I am not in a wheelchair but the stairs caused me a great deal of pain and anxiety when using the stairs.
As for the show, what we saw of it was good and I enjoyed it. We were told that intermission was 15 minutes and at 45 minutes we gave up...
