Tom Thumb Diner — Restaurant in Etowah

My first impression wasn’t good. We walked in and started to turn around and leave because the cigarette smoke smell was very strong. It seemed to come from a room beside the grill area. But we decided to try it any way. We were glad we did. I got the taco salad they used Doritos for the chips instead of plain tortilla chips. I wasn’t fond of that other than that the salad was good. Doritos are not good when they get soggy. The burgers were very good so were the fries and onion rings. There was five of us so Everyone else just kept going on and on about how good the burgers were. So my thoughts are get farther away when Smoking so it doesn’t enter the restaurant part. Also regular tortilla chips on the taco salad. Other than that thanks for an awesome meal. The tomato’s and other condiments were fresh and yummy. Thanks for the great service as well. Fast service too. I don’t know why the web site says permanently closed because they were definitely open today. Not bad...

Looking for a cup of coffee we saw the Tom Thumb Diner and stopped. Small quaint diner with 4 tables and a counter with bar stools. We drank our coffee ☕ then decided to try the special of the day, chili and grilled cheese sandwiches. The meal was good, the service was friendly and the locals that evidently come to eat and talk every day was entertaining. We sat at the counter and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the sweet Lady cooking on the grill. She definitely has it down to a art. There was nonstop customers which tells me this is a popular place. We popped by on our way through town. Grabbed a couple biscuits and a BLT to go. The food hit the spot but the coffee was meh. It definitely has the little local diner feel.
