We stayed 2 nights in one of the mini cabins. The staff was very nice and the cabin was clean. The beds were comfy and it was mostly what we expected. We were thinking the cabins would be a little more secluded but you are right on top of your neighbors at this city park. The primitive campers were loud but did quite down after 10. The mini cabins share a porta potty, but at least its a larger ADA compliant one. The bathhouse is very small for the number of sites they have. The women's has 3 showers and 2 toilets and the men's just has one toilet and 2 showers. I got clean, but it was not the best laid out space for sure. It would help a lot to have shelves or somewhere to place things inside and outside the shower stalls. The lake is pretty small; it will take 30 mins to make it all the way around by kayak. It is great they do kayak rentals for those who don't have their own and the price was affordable. We did hike some trails while there and it was fun but we added on an extra 5 miles or so when we took a wrong turn so having the trails clearly marked would help a lot with that. Would be a great day trip but not really a destination if you are looking for a more secluded...
Read moreThis place has some of the best designed downhill mountain bike trails in the country. All the trails here I consider more advanced than the color they have been assigned. Don't try to put a new rider on a bike and send them down the green trail (#6). This would be a blue at most MTB parks. For truly new riders, you can shuttle up and ride minors loop down. This would be fine for most people, families and kids. You do not have to get completely air born on any of the blue or green trails. On the green and blue trails you will finding huge flowy berms, optional jumps and rollable 10" or so rock drops. These trails are super flowy with some rock gardens thrown in. #4 has the most technical rock garden. The shuttle only runs a few days a week so check on times before your plan your trip. I believe it is going to cost to ride the shuttle up in the fall of 2018 until then, it is free. I don't know how you don't have to wait in line to ride these trails. I would have no problem driving 8-12 hours to get to this place. It...
Read moreI wish there was a way to review the campground separate from the park. The park is amazing, so much to do here and beautiful! We loved the downhill. We enjoyed our camping experience but campground is rustic. I don’t recommend a camper over 25ft 30 at the most, especially if you’ve never been here to scout out which sites you’ll fit in. Even the full hook up sites aren’t going to be convenient for a large RV. The sites aren’t anywhere near level so be sure to bring lots of leveling blocks. Hook ups aren’t convenient to where you have to park to get level so be sure to bring extra hose and 30amp extension. Depending on your RV you may not be able to hook up sewer in place and will have to move to dump. Some of the electric and primitive sites are much tighter than they look on the map. Once set up the sites are roomy and peaceful. The showers and flush toilets are in a 100 year old building, they aren’t terrible but not great. All in all we had a nice time and will return but definitely need to be prepared for...
