Genesee Mountain Park North Central — Attraction in Evergreen

I love this place but I have a few complaints. I have been coming here for years. There used to be much more wildlife, including deer and elk. But there is many new homes in the area and the wildlife seems scarce now. Also, you used to be able to drive to the top. Now the road is blocked off. On one nice summer day, after hiking around, I fell asleep in my truck. A sheriff came along and I guess being bored, decided he needed to harass me. No drugs or alcohol. No wants or warrants. Just a little nap in the shade. He made me provide dl, registration, proof of insurance, and an explanation what I was doing in the park. For half an hour....

A short hike up the hill brings you to a scenic spot with a flagpole and some excellent views of the surrounding landscape. Have been our go to place to take out of towners for a good hike. The hike to Genesse summit takes about 40 minutes. When you get there, the views are breathtaking.
