I've spent the past two years playing Les Bolsted twice a week thanks to the PCC membership program!
Very friendly staff Best driving range in the Twin Cities Extremely walkable course (no long walks to tee boxes!) Lots of variety in hole layout (it's an older course and it feels COOL to play) Good snack shack at the turn and cart girls/guys check up once or twice per round A lot of recent graduates, professors of the U playing here (good company if you are paired up)
Things to note: This is a city course, so it has the drawbacks you'd expect from a city course. It gets a lot of traffic and can be slow paced in the summer. The biggest thing to know is the greens were in really rough shape last year due to some winter damage (some of the worst I've seen at a golf course). But, from what I've heard the course just received a big grant and you can tell they are doing a ton of work on it. New tee boxes, cart paths, green repairs seem to be going in every day.
Overall, I love this course because it maintains a laid back community-driven vibe but is a serious and challenging course to play. There aren't many courses I could...
Read moreCompelled to write review after a terrible customer service experience. I was walking to the short game practice area by the clubhouse, that was completely empty, to practice when I was accosted by an employee. He told me that I was not permitted from practicing at the short game area and must leave. I calmly asked why. He announced that he worked there and this area was closed and reserved only for lessons. I responded that there was clearly no one there and I would graciously leave if any lessons were to need the area. He quickly said no. I asked if there was anywhere else I may practice 30-50 yard shots and he said no. He basically shooed me away, no solutions and no suggestions.
As a frequent user of the range and course, this is not how I envisioned I'd be treated by an employee. I felt disrespected, personally attacked, and unwelcome.
I used to put up with the $11 buckets, reliable-ish course conditions, and relative convenience. No longer. That was my last straw with this course. I won't spend another dollar here and will...
Read moreThe course presented a challenge, making it an excellent choice for anyone looking to improve. Its varied terrain offers a distinctive experience compared to most courses. I'm giving this a 5-star rating because of the crew working there. While I waited for my wife to pick me up, Adam observed my game and likely noticed I was a beginner based on my attempt to chip onto the practice green. After I hit my last ball, he kindly approached me and offered to provide some advice. I gladly accepted, and he shared a few clear and helpful tips. I quickly noticed that with his guidance, my chipping became more precise and my grip significantly stronger. Throughout the entire time, he was always smiling, even when I bombarded him with questions. He not only gave me advice on chipping but also on how to improve my overall game. I'm happy I ran into Adam and grateful for...
