Lovely little walk on the hills of this little town, it wasn't crowded at all. It was really hot but the wind help a little. We did the longer loop, we started going straight at the entrance. In the beginning we walked in a dried creek and that was a little rough, a lot of vegetation hitting us everywhere, then there was a normal paved trail. There were so many little bunnies and birds everywhere, and we had so much fun following some traces and hoping to see the animal at the end, and we did!!! That's was so awesome. The last 20-30 minutes are were the formations are, and they are beautiful, it feels like being somewhere else, Ina completely different country. It's almost an hour from south Colorado Springs but once in a while it's worth it. Just wish there were more picnic tables and benches..maybe there would be more people visiting this beautiful place, but sometimes it's better like this so no one can...

A hidden gem. 10 out of 10. Seriously, this free (!) county park about an hour from Colorado Springs has as impressive rock formations and layered colors as the Painted Dessert or the Artists' Palette in Death Valley, although it is a lot smaller and more compact. We spent an hour and half wandering the paths, taking pictures, and marveling at the colors. There are very helpful, friendly, and informative volunteers wandering around, answering questions, and giving impromptu geology lessons.

Wait, on the other hand, don't go. If it gets popular, it will get crowded and lose...

This is a great open space park named for its colorful clays that was collected by American Indians to make paint. These brightly colored bands are caused by oxidized iron compounds which are found in varying amounts throughout the many different layers of clay. This short hike through the formations has pretty cool hidden little caves tucked away but there are restrictions on anyone attempting to climb the rocks. The soil is fragile and there is evidence of large boulders falling over. I highly suggest travelers to visit this park but highly advise against...

If it gets popular, it will get crowded and lose its charm. ;-)
