Our first NASCAR cup series experience was a blast!.. with temperatures hovering between 35-50 degrees it was a very cold experience but we prepared and dressed accordingly. If you don't have your own be sure to spend the money for headset (or sets) and scanner as it adds another level of emersion into the action. My wife and I also enjoyed the ability to talk with the intercom feature. Which also help drown out the over amplified "music" and announcements during pre-race. Like all popular sporting events and entertainment venues the prices for souvenirs and concession is very high but AMS does allow you to bring in your own cooler with food and beverages (no glass) and they do provide stations to refill water bottles for free. So you "could" attend a race paying just admission. Various levels of admission prices and upgrade are possible like reserved parking which, unlike us, you should be sure to reserve it early as it does sell out. If you can afford it, it is worth the price. As for the other extras like walking the track, access to garages/ pit areas and pre-race concert package, etc. We did not take part in but are available for an additional price. Here's a tip.. if for whatever reason you don't want to stop at souvenir trailers outside the venue because of the heat, cold or crowd.. or you just want to get inside the venue to your seats faster, there are souvenir booths (and concessions of course) in the tunnel way and we found more affordable and actually some discounted items in these booths that were not available at the trailers outside. Overall great fun and can be pricey but there are ways to spend less. If you are looking for a thrill and get the chance, whether a race fan or not, at Atlanta Motor Speedway or any other nascar cup series track, you should have this experience at least once in your life... The event was super fun and considering the number of people it was still a blast. I love how you can bring your own beverages.
While I didn't get any I observed others getting concession food and it smelled amazing. I saw this one massive dessert this one person has!
Couple of observations for improvements. Better labeling of which restrooms are handicap friendly would be beneficial. When it does rain as it did ai completely agree driver safety is important. That said, AMS also put many people in dangerous situations. I myself, cannot see well, my father is in a wheelchair and can't see st all. My mother is on oxygen and started to run extremely low due to the length of time to get the carts running again.
There needs to be a better plan in place while also protecting everyone. I would had hated to see something happened to my mother because her oxygen ran out. She literally ran back to the vehicle to get her spare to save herself. Accidents occur sure but neg ligence has conrented property.uences.
One last observation and this one really isn't bad as they fixed it but it should had never happened. I had specific seat tickets and they were took by two people who the track manager quote , "could have these seats". Manager or not there is never an excuse to give away another person's rented property.
Old July 4th Review; The July 4th fireworks live up to their name of best fireworks show on Southside of Atlanta! You could say the City of Griffin was blown out of the park so to speak.
Overall very clean and very friendly staff/volunteers. I got tickets to the game Sunday and will update...
Read moreAlways a great time at the stadium! If you're a first time visitor, do a little research for parking/gates compared to your seats. It's no fun parking in orange lot, walking into gate 12 & having seats near gate 15. Even in good walking shoes, you'll be tired by the time you find your seats. Personal opinion: red lot is best as it's the area directly at the stadium entrances. It can sometimes be confusing pending on the event, on how parking works: red lot will have 3 lanes to follow but the line will be long in line one since everyone wants to play "follow the leader". Ignore the leader & rock that 3rd lane! You'll skip that line but still end up in the same parking areas. The exception will be when you get to the event "on time". Get there an hour early! If you get there with any less time then you better be prepared to walk from the grass area which could mean more than a mile walk to your seats. They do have golf carts that will randomly circle & offer rides but don't be surprised if they ignore your requests if no one in your group looks elderly or that they're really struggling. Food options are good but it's traditional stadium food of burgers, tenders, nachos & dogs, unless you are willing to walk to the nicer drink area near gate 15. Every event always has a TON of stalls with merchandise for whatever event is happening but as with most arenas, expect to pay top dollar. Try the Lavender Lemonade 🤤 hits the spot every time! And if you're really wanting to go all out- get those pit passes! Means going early & huffing it to gate 15 but we've never been disappointed meeting the drivers & chatting with the event staff. Always super friendly, even if you're in the wrong seats 😄and this 4th of July (2023) they'll have a free fireworks show! Gates open at 6pm per...
