I came to the Fleming County Covered Bridge Museum with two primary areas of focus. I had talked with Brenda at the museum before we arrived an boy-oh-boy was she prepared! My wife and I were touring the local covered bridges thinking that the area could make for a good tour for our antique car club. Brenda went out of her way to open my eyes to the gems contained in and around Fleming County that have the makings of a lovely place for us to visit as a group. Neighboring Blue Licks Battlefield State Park could be an ideal base. Brenda also armed me with new information about James J. Andrews, his time in Flemingsburg and how he went on from here to lead his famed raid into Confederate Georgia in an effort to steal a locomotive and destroy a vital Confederate railway line.
