Pleasantly surprised! My husband told me about this park and said we should go and I'm glad we did! There is a walking trail that takes you out to the river/marsh, great views. We walked over to the museum and read the plaques about the history of the fort and the Spanish slaves/non slaves settlers. The museum provides a 10 minute film based on the history of the area, the people that settled on the land, how they lived, what was discovered. After viewing the film, you can go into the display area and see and hear about the history of individuals, tools they used, a layout of the moat, and how they made a living. It was great to see this during Black History month, kids got educated! I would highly recommend coming here, even if you just want to take a walk and/or walk your dog. It's a nice park and we will definitely come back. Be sure to leave a donation to help keep this historic place running. The visitor center/museum is open from 9am to 5pm. The museum only charges $2 per person, little kids can enter for free! Enjoy!

Everyone who visits St Augustine should go to Fort Mose. You will learn about an important part of history that is generally ignored by mainstream historical accounts. The role of freed slaves in colonial st Augustine is fascinating and their story needs to be told and heard. Moreover, the museum at the fort is small but excellent—it has interactive exhibits that give you a taste of what people’s lives were like who lived at Fort Mose. The guide working there also explained a lot to us about the fort and was very knowledgeable about the area, answering all my questions and offering insight into this part of history. There’s also a small boardwalk to observe nature. Fort Mose is a must-see!

Maybe it's the time of year, but overall I wasn't all that impressed. There is definitely a history here, but much of what is said beyond a few dates is largely speculation. I think they have done the best they could given what little information they've been able to find, but that hasn't been that much. We were there on a Friday about noon and the only person on the property was a park ranger who took the $2 entry fee. There's an inside exhibit of a few items, but little about anyone in particular, and many of their characters are 'best guesses' as to what someone of a particular station would be like, with little documented.

Outside were a few picnic tables and a slight walk out to a dock into the marshy shore area. It's beautiful out there, but there's nothing really else to see or learn about. There were no reenactors or anyone that could give more information. If you want to pack a family picnic and have a few good views from the shore, this is definitely a place to go. If you want to learn about the history of this place, you're probably best to...
