Winn-Dixie — Local services in Saint Augustine

My son was doing laundry next door and had walked in to get a soda. Manager Billie Jo was outside smoking when she assumed he was a vagrant or pan handler. My son works for a legitimate company doing stucco and other construction services. He explained this to her but she continued to accuse him of panhandling. He advised her that he works and owns his own home. Still this was not enough for her.He was so offended that he made a parting remark and went back to the laundromat. She actually called the police and sent them to the laundromat to trespass him!! I called Billie Jo to see if this could be settled nicely and before I could complete a sentence she began yelling at me!! She continued the narrative that my son was a panhandling. I asked her did she see that and she said no and that he just looked the part! I told her that her customer service skills were lacking and that I was not yelling at her and that she should extend me the same courtesy. She completely refused and still yelled. I don't know if she was having a bad day or what but she needs to take back that trespass warning because she was wrong and get some training on how not to profile people and customer service. I usually live going to Winn Dixie in my area. But I'm on a mini vacation in St. Augustine and stopped by to pick up a few things. They had a stand alone display with a yellow sale tag, cakes price "4 for $5" so I bought 4. Got home(my daughter's apartment) and realized they charged me regular price. Basically 75 cents per item over sale price. So I drove back, took a picture of display and went to Customer Service. The lady said the sale was only Honey Buns. She said oh well.. That is definitely deceptive sales. Be careful... 7 May, 2025 - Stopped in, I try not to but said it could have changed. NOPE. This time I brought a complaint to the person watching self check out, I told her how terrible the way need to put everything on bagging scale(store doesn't trust shoppers)(which is terrible), she actually told me if I'm unhappy to shop elsewhere. That is TERRIBLE customer service. I will drive an extra 15 minutes to shop at Walmart. Now I will do without before going to this store, thanks to the lady in green telling me to shop...

Sooooo....there were a few shoppers who didn't wear a mask. I guess because the rules have changed there was no enforcement!!! Good thing there was lots of space to move away. Young male cashier was not very friendly and barely opened his mouth to greet me. Now that I think about it none of the employees seem very friendly. Also now that I think about it some more I haven't seen any employees of color. I always get the feeling I'm being watched while I'm shopping here. Only my second trip and it's felt that way both times. I'm going to give them a 3rd chance and see how things go. The hot food section has no cover over the food. You can simply reach in and serve yourself. The thought of dirty hands or sleeves reaching in over uncovered food made me not want any. I've never been in a grocery store that didn't have fresh Spinach. This...
