Read moreWALKING Great park for walking because of the beautiful 1 mile long mulched loop trail around the large lake. You can extend your walk a few miles by using the connected paved walkways also along the shores of the lake. In my opinion the trees, green grass, lake, and sky all add a special peaceful beauty to this park.
FISHING The lake started out as a limestone rock quarry decades ago and as a result the water quality appears good and clean. As for fishing don’t waste your time as the lake has bass but it does not seem to have very many.
WATER SKIING I know nothing about water skiing but have heard its lake is a popular water skiing destination.
PICNIC AREAS Picnic areas are beautiful, plentiful, and well maintained with some areas being covered and near restrooms.
WOODS You can also visit the woods and nature center building in the back or North end of the park. The wooded area is nice but it does not resemble a remote mature forest. Along the West end of the wooded trail is a section where you can stand outside a fenced area and sometimes see deer inside the fenced area. The woods and trail and lake on the South side of Okeechobee Blvd are a much nicer choice for nature lovers. It’s great for hiking or kayaking. The South side appears remote due to the fact that no one seems to know about that area. So let’s keep it out secret. I honestly didn’t want to disclose this information because I like the fact that it is so secluded and quiet and full of natural beauty. But if you read this far then I guess you deserve to know about it.
DOG PARK Yes they have a dog park near the North end of the park, Im not a dog so can’t say...

The variety of amenities in this park is astonishing to say the least. The only thing you won’t find here is a basketball court, but other than that I don’t think you can ask for more activities to be offered.
There is an equestrian center, a public golf course, baseball fields, soccer fields (which you can’t use without a permit though: the Village Park Athletics Complex in Wellington is a better choice for soccer play), tennis fields including now several pickle ball fields (always crowded) and a volleyball field on grass.
There is also a BMX track, a water ski lake, a Shark Park on a separate lake (where you can enjoy cable watersports) and a place where you can kayak/canoe (you can bring your own or rent the equipment there).
You can also just walk, bike (which you can also rent), skate or play disc golf throughout the entire park. Or you can enjoy and exercise on the 1 mile trail with 20 stations. If that’s not enough options for walking, you can visit the nature center!
In some parts you can also fish, and both your dogs and kids have their own playgrounds! There are also many picnic shelters and pavilions throughout the park, and the best part: there is no entrance fee!!
We consider ourselves very lucky to live close to this HUGE and...
