It's June 2nd 2019. The temperature is 91° with a real feel of 103°. There is hardly even a breeze and it's boiling hot. BUT we decided yesterday that we would renew our fishing licenses buy some new saltwater tackle and drive almost 2 hours from Kissimmee to Melbourne to enjoy some fishing. We get here and hop out if the truck to take a look. Everyone is nicely spaced out there are a lot of people fishing and the swimmers seem to be all on the left hand side. We see a nice empty spot on the right with no swimmers and enough room in-between the anglers that are already all set up with lines in the water. We drag our cooler, buckets, nets, bait, poles, chairs, and sunshade all out and finally get it down to the water line. Pouring buckets of sweat we set up and start to prep our lines when a lifeguard claims that we must move because this is a swimming area (funny because that's not posted anywhere and there are no swimmers in the water near us). He then tells us that we have to move all the way to the right and past a sign that says "you are now leaving a life guard area" and fish over there. Well there are problems with this. First one is there are tons of people swimming over there it is dangerous to fish near people. Next we had just gotten everything set up and we're utterly exhausted. Then the people already fishing there have been there for a few hours they said and no one had said anything to them!!!! The beach is for everyone to enjoy and anglers should try and stay away from swimmers for safety. For a LIFE guard to suggest to go fish on top of swimmers is absolutely ridiculous. Next if you don't want people fishing there you should: 1) post that information and 2) notify anyone you see with a fishing pole that they cannot fish in that area BEFORE they set up everything and drag all of their stuff down there. We will be contacting the county to make a very...
Read moreWe were celebrating my daughter's birthday and had a fantastic time. The people are friendly, polite. Only two little incidents happened but, we didn't allow it to ruin this special event. The first one: when we arrived someone had taken over the gazebo that we had rented and some words were exchanged, nothing serious; they had to leave. Second one: this was rather embarrassing. While the children were playing with sand on the beachfront, a couple of young people were having a "relationship " very close to the children, and we had to intervene and thank God they left. With a sour taste because we let them have it, and they had to stop their moment of pleasure. The nerve of some people. There is a place and time for that. Not where there are children around. After the occurrences, ...
Read moreThe beach is very nice. Soft sand. Bathrooms with plenty of stalls and they seem to get cleaned on a daily basis. There are covered areas, but you have the reserve them, which is lame. Should be first come, first serve, unless you reserve. The main road has way too much traffic to walk across to the gas station. There are always car accidents and several people have been hit and killed by cars in this area. It is a shame Brevard will not do anything about installing a stop light with a cross walk. But what do you expect, there are drugs being sold at this beach, as well as the gas station across the street all day every day, but the cops never do anything about it, and they are ALWAYS THERE! I am convinced at this point that the coos are the...
