There is a small section of the park right off the street parking with a play structure suitable for younger kids. Leading away from the park are a number of trails that can, eventually, take you all the way down to the American River. If you just want to take a quick stroll stay in the vicinity of the park entrance. That area is good for almost anyone to safely walk. If you reach the Snipes-Pershing Ravine Trail Bridge, you can turn back and return to the park with "relative" ease. Even before you reach the bride, parts of the trails are rocky, uneven and in some places a little steep. I don't recommend most of the trails for the very young or anyone with difficulty walking. Also, it's easy to get turned around your first time! If you end up walking all the way to the river, well, it's a long walk back to your car 🙂.
