Their wine was good but to be completely honest the visit was ruined by the server. It was obvious that she was frustrated with her day and decided to take it out on us unfortunately.
She did her job and all (served us the wine) but when we described what we tasted, she said what we tasted in the wine was "wrong." This has never happened to me in 15 years of going to wineries. I understand if that's not what YOU taste, or even what MOST people taste. But people have their own opinions of wine and that's what makes wine tasting special. To say that what you taste is "wrong" is the same as telling someone you're wrong for not liking a wine. This made our visit very awkward and uncomfortable.
Also, she made everyone in our group feel stupid. She talked to us as if we were children, and never gave us a chance to share our opinions (constantly interrupted us with her own "facts").
She also said that Paso Robles was a place where there are "only old world blends" and that she would "never visit." I have family in Paso Robles and they're the OPPOSITE of old world. All their wine is full of new world blends with Zin, Cabs, Pinos, and more. The fact that she said that discredited everything else she said.
Lastly, my group wanted to say that EVERYONE ELSE was wonderful and super nice and accommodating. This one person just ruined everything for us. I understand that this one person was having a bad day. But as always, it's really not okay to take it out on...
Read moreEverything started great. We pre-booked our time for a weekend, we were the last group of the day, but the lady who helped us, Robin, made it very obvious she did not want to be there. She was very rude to our group. We took this as a witty sense of humor at first, but after repeated comments it became toxic. My wife is not a big drinker, especially with wine. She chose to not drink as quickly as the rest of the group and instead took her time. She explained this to Robin which was met with “I’m cutting you off any way because you are slurring”. After this, Robin served us with no further explanations of the wine and leaving a glass empty. During the next pour, we calmly explained the misunderstanding of the situation. She then severed our full group again and took a sarcastic stance by saying “I don’t know what you want me to say.” We’ve all worked in hospitality at some point. A sorry would’ve helped the situation.
Kudos to your employee Benji who was more sincere and apologetic. He did offer us a free bottle which we did appreciate after...
Read moreLovely little winery tasting room with some of the most hospitable and friendly staff you'll come across. The wine was great and the tasting room was lovely and personable in a way you expect from the dry creek area.
As for our experience, I did a tasting and my wife had a single glass. Unfortunately, the wine she received was a bit off. Maybe some cork or otherwise tainted? In any case, as soon as our host learned about the issue she immediately reviewed the bottle it came from and opened a new one. Turned out there was indeed something off with the first bottle but the second bottle was amazing. She very kindly comped my wife her glass and was very sweet and apologetic about the first bottle.
Moshin represented themselves exceptionally well and we loved the experience, hospitality, and the wine itself.
We first learned about Moshin from other wine hosts in the area we spoke with earlier that day. They said on their day off, they preferred to go to Moshin for wine. And we agreed that it was well worth the visit! Definitely recommend you...
