7/31/25: Short version - if I could give 10 stars I would. Location, staff, wine & food selections, communication -- 10 stars across the board. It was a wonderful experience! One word of caution, though. Not to put you off visiting, but just a heads up: Larimer County only allows the winery to have 11 vehicles in their parking lot. A wine tasting reservation does secure you a spot.
Long version - we were visiting Loveland, CO (from Phoenix, AZ) for a very short trip & wanted to cram in as much as we possibly could. Blendings was one of the first wineries we found doing a Google search for the area. What a fantastic place, no joke.
We made the reservation online, and not gonna lie, I got nervous about the 11-car limit. I sent an e-mail to a couple of their "Contact Us" addresses. One did not go through. When I reached out to them via Facebook, someone replied almost immediately, thanking me for letting them know about the bad e-mail & also confirming that yes, a tasting reservation guarantees your car has a spot in their parking lot. Now that is excellent customer service.
When we arrived this particular Thursday for our 4 o'clock reservation, it was to a gorgeous spot. Green vineyards, a babbling brook, a gorgeous & well decorated eating / tasting area, a beautiful patio for more tasting ambiance, plus a couple more covered areas in their small side yard.
Katie welcomed us with a cheery hello & bright smile. She was very friendly as we navigated through our confusion over the reservation. She was giving us a 4-flight tasting when we reserved the Blendings Experience (6 flights, charcuterie plate, bottle to take home) ... or so we thought. Turns out, we weren't paying attention to their website when we signed up & clicked on the other link, the one for the 4-flight tasting. She was super sweet though & said the Blendings master could be there in 30 min if we wanted to go that route. Not wanting to rush anyone because of our screw up -- and because we were thirsty now! :-) -- we opted to go w/ the normal tasting.
What a treat that was. Probably a good thing, too, because the flights were generous pours; I don't think I could have handled 2 more pours. LOL!
With all the wine consumption, we ordered a veggie plate, as well as a charcuterie plate. Plus, Katie gave us some spicy saltines to go with it. Tasty! The hummus w/ the veggies had a little kick to it, & the small pita pockets were perfect. The charcuterie plate had some wonderful cheese slices, a nice selection of olives (you could choose to go w/ nuts instead of olives), plus the meat & crackers. It was so good we ordered a 2nd charcuterie.
There was an excellent selection of wines to choose from the tasting menu. One or two I wanted they were out of, but we were also able to substitute from their other selections. They also had a couple special seasonal wines, as well as some cocktails, on top of a few frozen concoctions. Too many choices. We totally should have taken an Uber/Lyft. Ha Ha!
We got through our flights, then tried a few of their cocktails: Old Fashioned, Lavender Lemonade, and one of their frozen. Every single one was delicious.
All in all, we spent a couple hours at Blendings. We could have spent so much longer, but then we totally would have needed a ride home. We bought a few bottles of their sweet wines: Strawberry Blonde, Caramel Apple, and Blue Me Away. It was a hard decision to make, which bottles to buy.
If you are ever in the Fort Collins or Loveland area and want to have a fantastic wine-tasting experience, you should reserve a tasting at Blendings Winery. You'll have a...
Read moreThe first outing we had at Blendings, there seemed to be a miscommunication with the reservation made. I thought I had set up a Blendings but turned out it hadn't gotten set up so we just did wine tastings. In trying to set up an actual Blendings experience 6 months later it was even worse. I called requesting to set up a blendings for 6 people wondering if there were other times available outside of their designated two hour window each day. I was told with 6 people we could do a "private" blendings experience. After the last week, I'm convinced that these don't exist. I was constantly told that they were trying to find out if they'd have a blendings master available. They would never follow up with me and when I'd call to see if there were any updates as it was only two weeks out I was constantly told that they would follow up with me which never happened. I finally gave up on the night I called to check yet again and was hung up on once she realized who it was. Called right back again and got another woman and was told that the woman who had been "helping" me was miraculously all of a sudden helping a customer even though I called right back. She informed me that she would call me right back once she was done with the customer. Surprise, surprise I never heard back. They've lost several customers as the 6 of us won't attempt to try and set something up with them since it's such a hassle and we'll be sure to let others know that its not even worth attempting to set...
Read moreMy husband and I came across Blendings after a beautiful hike one day recently. We were on our way home and passed the sign for Blendings at the Preserve. We quickly doubled back and drove onto the picturesque grounds, young vines against the black earth, pastures and a wedding barn, and best of all, this small surprise: a truly beautiful tasting room.
We found a friend in Casey, our guide through the various wines on offer. We had the place to ourselves, and he let us look all over the tasting building. It’s a comforting place, with its mountain-luxury decor. The huge barrel barn door is not to be missed and the fireplace invites tasters to cozy up and stay a while.
The wines we tasted were scrumptious! Neither of us is a connoisseur, so our appraisal of the wine menu could not be considered to be a refined evaluation, but we liked it enough to buy a bottle of the Winter wine we tasted. Another hit was Blueberry Fields Forever, but they were all good.
The place itself is a good reason to go, but Casey’s kindness really made our visit special! We left with a bottle and genuine smiles all around!
This venue is out of the way, but definitely worth...
