Bridal Veil Falls was never our destination on this fateful day. Rather, my wife had mentioned that she wanted me to take her up to Park City to behold the splendor of the autumn colors in the Utah mountains. I was pleased - this is one of my favorite drives. We set out along the belt route toward the I-80 exit. As we began our ascent I noticed she was asleep. I woke her, reassuring her that it was okay if she wanted to sleep, but letting her know that our journey through Utah Autumn was beginning. "How long until the really cool views?" She asked in her most tired tone. I think I knew how this would play out, but I still held onto hope. "Probably 10-15 minutes, but it's all worth seeing. And the Fall here only lasts a couple weeks, so we probably wont be able to see this again until next year." "Okay," she said as she shifted positions, "wake me up when we get to the cool stuff." How could I possibly decide what the 'really cool' part was? We passed the Mountain Dell Golf Course. I love the views. I love the colors. I should wake her up. No - what if it's not good enough? I may only get one shot at this. We passed Jeremy Ranch Country Club, coming up on Kimball Junction. Surely this would be a good spot to wake her. I can't do it. I think closer to Park City will be better. Should I just let her sleep? What if I drive us back home and then she is unhappy that I didn't wake her? At Olympic Park I caved. "Look honey, off yonder is where they did the long-jump for skiing in the 2002 Olympics," I said proudly. Desperately. As her eyes adjusted to the light, she kindly replied, "Oh wow that's so pretty...You told me that the last time we drove up here though." She rolled back over to sleep. "Wake me up in Park City and we can walk around," she said. Parked on Main St. in Park City, she sensed the car come to a stop and awoke. "Do you remember this street?" I asked. "Yeah. I've seen it before, we can just go. Sorry I am so tired." Well if she's going to be asleep then I'm going to drive home through Heber and down Provo Canyon. It's a prettier drive. It started to sprinkle. I was sad that the clouds would dull the vibrant fall colors. Or would it give them a different hue? As I drove, I imagined the Fall in Europe. I wonder if Austria is actually more beautiful than all this? It's probably worth it just to see the castles and historical sites. Utah is short on castles. When we drove down the canyon coming up on Bridal Veil, she awoke. She marveled at the orange and red on the mountains, which seemed to rapidly overtake the muted yellows and browns as we descended in elevation. She asked to stop at Bridal Veil Falls. Of course; we have already seen this place. As I flew my drone around in hopes of capturing that Apple TV screensaver quality footage, she asked for a picture in front of this beautiful backdrop. 400 pictures later, I resumed my flight. Alas, it was now too cold for her. We would have to head back to the car. As I closed my door and shifted into drive, the rain began to pour. I was glad my...

Read moreI got to visit this falls area around mid of August. I got to say this area is very well maintained. Most of the trail is paved, and one can have a nice walk around the falls. Mamy people here rent the bike and do the whole paved trail, i would suggest to anyone doing this. Sunsets are very nice here. I visited this falls few months ago, the area was completely shutdown due to avalanche, and there was no maintenance, but the parking lot was open, now the whole area was cleared up and good to visit...
