Don't go! Unless you're willing to risk your children being traumatized by a guy falling down the waterfall.
I am that guy! On July 13th 2024 some of my friends and I were repelling down bridalveil falls. I was the first one to go down and so I was the fortunate one to find out that we did our math wrong and my rope was 50 ft too short and we were too careless to tie stopper knots
So I fell and broke my back. I spent a week in the hospital and got a bunch of metal put in my spine but I'll make a mostly full recovery.
The problem is when I landed I was screaming and I'm scared that I traumatized some kids because there was a big crowd there and seeing a guy falling and then screaming, probably not the best thing for kids/ anybody to see so if any of you were there I truly am very sorry.
And for the guys who helped get me out of the rushing water. Thank you so much! I wish I remembered your names.
Other than that though, this waterfall's great. It's been one of my favorites to come to my whole life and I grew up in Provo so I've been going there since I was a small kid. I used to take bike rides there all the time. It's a great place. Beautiful waterfall and a very fun repel, if your ropes long enough… and regardless if your rope is long enough or not, tie stopper knots! It's worth building the habit.
P.S. If anybody was there and saw it and took some pictures Hit me up! I would love to see the footage! And if you want to see x-rays and stuff I'll make...
Read moreTook my teenage granddaughters to this free experience. Of course, they wanted to climb up to get close in personal with the falls at the top. I figured there was an easier way to get there than straight up the waterfall. But that is the path they took. And I figured I needed to stay with them. It was not a super easy route, but I am in my 60s and I made it and lived to tell about it. On the way down, I found the proper trail That zigzags at a much better grade to the top. That trail starts at the bottom, right near the bridge from the parking lot. I highly recommend going that route. I also do not suggest hiking up on icy days. It was June when we made the trek
That said, the falls are gorgeous. My granddaughters are from out of town and said this was one of their favorite hikes. They loved the waterfalls and spent considerable time, taking photos and selfies at the top and enjoying the vistas. There are some wading pools at the bottom where younger children—with supervision—can get their feet wet while those more venturous can...
Read moreOne of the cool features of Bridal Veil Falls is the driving to get here. Enjoy quick waters, jagged cliffs and lush green landscapes on the way. Parking is pretty easy, but expect a lot of car and foot traffic on the weekends. Rather than hike from the beginning of the Bridal Veil Falls trail, we had actually parked near the falls itself for a little family time in front of the beautiful pool of water below the waterfall, and took some photos too. Then we walked along what is called the "upper falls trail" (paved) until we reached the upper falls bridge. There is not much elevation on this trail, but it is very relaxing and great for a chill family outing. Just watch out for bicyclists, roller bladers, and skateboarders. Overall they are very space-conscious but best to be careful. I think everyone would also appreciate it if pet owners picked up after their animals as well...Besides this point, a laid-back, family-friendly hike,...
