This is one of my favorite trails in Sedona. Relatively easy walk with wonderful red rock scenery. I enjoy it best in the morning, and recommend you arrive early (within a half hour after sunrise) because of parking. (Playing parking lot "lottery" is not how I enjoy my time!). I generally park at the southern most lot and as most people head directly toward Bell Rock, the Courthouse Butte Loop seldom has a lot of hikers. It is very enjoyable for that reason alone. Take you time, take lots of photos and just soak in the views. It loops back on to Bell Rock Trail and that circles around Bell Rock (climbing around on Bell Rock for those that are able is recommended for your inner child). 2 1/2 to 3 hours of time to fully enjoy.
Red Rock Pass or National Park Pass is required - automated pay booth is at the lot!
It is still the desert - make sure to have plenty of water! Snacks recommended.
Your socks and shoes will not be the same - they gladly earn the red...
Read moreBeautiful trail that requires moderate fitness. Expect some steep steps and some moderate inclines depending on which path you take. Parking can be hard to get. Best advise is to get here by 9 AM if you don't want to wait for hours for someone to leave. There's not much in way of parking!
Some guides say this is an easy trail. I would advise you to have proper foot gear for a mixture of smooth and rough surfaces and be ready for some knee work. Don't come here if you haven't been walking in a while. Be advised that it is VERY recommended you bring 1 gallon of water while going through this trail. Today was 83 degrees Fahrenheit and I went through three 16.9 ounce bottles and got back to my car with dry mouth. Peak summer make VERY sure you are taking proper precautions. Horse and dog friendly.
If you are bringing your pooch BRING PLENTY OF WATER. Good luck and...
Read moreFun trail with awesome panoramic views! $5 to park. Went on a Sunday at about noon. Parking lot was packed (I got lucky getting a spot right as someone was leaving), but the trail wasn't too crowded and lots of space so you can take your time, take pics, stop for water/snack breaks, etc. Pretty easy and mostly flat, my dog didn't struggle terribly but it's a 4 mile hike and the high was 70 degrees. Half the hike was in direct sun, so bring water for you and your pup. I highly recommend doing the whole loop. It took us just under 2 hours, totally worth it. Everyone we met was friendly along the way,...
