Desert View Picnic Area — Attraction in Four Corners States

It's not a bad picnic area, but it is extremely busy like everything else in the park. There are great views of the tower which is nice, and if you need a break and a sandwich, or something from the little store, this place works well. This uncovered picnic area is located at the north end of the main parking lot, with plenty of picnic tables and recycling bins nearby. Some of the standard-sized picnic tables are under trees, providing some shade during the hot summers. Restrooms for this area can be found north of the area along the Desert View Walkways. Crowded just like everything else in the park. Choices are limited so this is what you get. I believe this is the only major service offering on the east side of the south rim. They have a small grocery store that does sell beer and other basic items so at least that is a plus. Ample parking that can accommodate cars and...
