Grand View Point lies at the southernmost end of the Island in the Sky scenic drive. From here, you can see the across miles of corrugated canyons, the White Rim four-wheel-drive road, features in The Maze and The Needles, and distant mountains. A short, paved sidewalk leads to a spectacular viewpoint. From there you can hike an additional mile to a second viewpoint. Rangers often present geology talks at Grand View Point spring through fall.

Roundtrip Distance: 1.8 mi (2.9 km)

Time: 1.5 hrs

Elevation Change: 73 ft (22 m)

Difficulty: Easy

Hike Description: A stunning out-and-back trail, this walk showcases spectacular panoramic views as it follows the canyon edge.

Accessibility: This trail can be rough, uneven, and requires walking up and down a rocky hill and stone steps. It is not accessible to wheelchairs. In winter, there may be snow or icy conditions; we recommend traction devices for hikers.

Dogs are not allowed on this trail. Service animals are allowed in...

This is the furthest point along Grand View Point Road before returning to the visitor’s center. There is a large oval one-way parking lot, with two separate, single-stall vault toilets. This location is extremely busy, and parking can be a complete nightmare and is only crazier during the peak season. This majestic vantage point is only a few hundred feet down a paved path from the parking lot and is a testament to Mother Nature's incredible craftsmanship, offering an unparalleled panoramic view that stretches as far as the eye can see. What stands out most to us was the sheer scale of this natural amphitheater, with towering cliffs plummeting over 1,000 feet and in the distance, you can see the Colorado River, which carved this magnificent landscape over millions of years. Finally, this is simply an amazing place to be as the sun begins to set, and the sky transforms into a riot of pinks, oranges, and purples, casting a golden glow over the rugged...

The expanse. The sheer expanse. The 1.8 to 2 mi hike which takes you to the REAL "Grand View point" is not to be missed. It is a "down and back" trail. However I don't necessarily call it a super easy hike. If you have kids, they will definitely be complaining before you get to the end of the trail. Follow the Cairns! I would definitely recommend hiking pack with a water bladder and hiking shoes if you are going to make the trek. But well worth it. There is a mild to medium scramble at the very end if you want an amazing view of both sides of the Grandview point. The picture with the gnarly tree in the middle depicts the scramble to the final zenith. Cool little hike. Tip: If you want to do this hike, get to the park early and drive immediately to this place, or else you will likely have to circle several times to find a parking spot. It parks up rather fast. Hit everything else on your way back, including Mesa arch....
