I frequently hike here. It is convenient to where I live. It is next to Golden, but large enough to give you a nature experience. Today I saw 16 mule deer at the north end on top. I frequently see and hear coyotes. There are many rabbits and a variety of birds. There is a grueling half-mile incline hike at West trailhead. The grade is 15-20%. It will get your lungs pumping.
