We had such a fun time on this hike with our dog! We specifically chose this trail as it states that dogs could be off-leash in certain areas. Our dog had the best time walking through the water and strolling along the trail. We went during a rather windy evening so there weren't too many people or other dogs on the trail, so it was perfect-ish. The wind kicks up a lot of sand, so we had to stop a few times to cover our eyes, but we still had a good time. I can definitely see the appeal in coming in the summer as the waterfall and pool at the end would provide a place to cool down! We went in early April, so the water was still a little too frigid to be jumping in.
NOTE: You WILL need to walk through water, so bring shoes that can get wet or be open to walking barefoot! And if you bring your pups, PLEASE pick up after them and take the bags BACK to a trash receptacle! It's a privilege to bring them along, so it was disappointing to see a few abandoned bags...

-Mill Creek Trail is a lovely trail that can stretch as far as 7-10 miles per the local I spoke to during my hike. -When you follow it initially from the parking lot, it will take you to the waterfall, that distance is about 1 mile one-way. -The hike was awesome during the morning (7am), barely saw many people. -You can catch a beautiful sunrise just over the waterfall too (see photo). -You will hike through the creek, dirt paths, brush & rocky edges. -Some reviews recommend water shoes, but I just went barefoot & I was fine. -The water was warm in mid-August & it wasn't very deep even at the waterfall (went up to my thighs).
Overall, if you want to start off your day on a short, relaxing & fulfilling hike, you need to come here. You'll leave very happy...
Read moreOne of my favorite hikes in the Moab area! This off the beaten trail was gorgeous when we hiked it close to sunset. Our goal was to reach the falls so we can swim. It took a little longer than we expected, so for all those out there looking to swim, it’s approximately 0.8 miles from the trailhead (took us about 30 min one way). The weather in May was perfect for a dip in the water. My fellow hikers felt like the water was a tad too cold, but I thought it was just perfect (50ish Fahrenheit). The falls area was a little small, but we were able to have it pretty much all to ourselves because people had cleared out. I can see how this area can get very busy on a hot summer day, so come prepared to be with a crowd. It’s...
