Good views of the entire valley. The cross isn't anything special, just some I-beams painted white with guy-wires to stabilize it. The path is confusing since it isn't clear where to go from the road so we just scaled the erosion paths. Hated doing that since that kind of hiking destabilizes the ground. Once we got up to the top we saw that there was a variety of paths that looked like they might follow a better route. Down in the canyon, it's actually pretty cool, both in temperature and interest. The scrub oak and other vegetation is thick so I imagine in spring and summer it must be enchanting. I'd like to go back up in fall to see what the colors look like. Overall if you're looking for a short hike and a view, this is a good one. There is no formal parking lot, so we just parked at the end of the road beneath the reservoir. You could park at the reservoir and walk eastward to catch a trail that should take you up the hill to the cross.

We really enjoyed this hike and the view was worth the effort it took to get there. We chose the hardest route to the top with our 6 and 3 yo. It was so steep we were using our hands to crawl up the dirt. My 6yo daughter said, “We’re gonna die!” at one point. Lol but we somehow made it! Luckily there was an easier way down, though it was still steep and rocky. So wear good shoes! With older kids, it would not be a problem. View = 5 stars all the way. Easiness = 3 stars.

Enjoyable hike. Great views of Utah valley. You can choose a more direct steeper approach or a more gentle one. Spanish Fork reservoir is right there with a sandy beach for swimming and the rest of the reservoir is good for fishing.

It took almost 40 years for me to actually make this hike despite growing up in Spanish Fork. I'm glad I finally made it. It has a great view of the valley and I learned some information I didn't know form the plaques. We took kids with us (4-10). The youngest had to be carried the last little bit, but other than that it was a great family...
