Home of the real deal Butte Des Morts....mound of the dead ...where remnants of an Indian village and a depiction of this mound of dead stands. French soldiers were said to have slaughtered all the inhabitants in a surprise early morning raid and piled all the bodies near this place. Which was much disturbed by the construction of the railroad bridge now a walking trail and local recreation area. The name Butte des Morts is used liberally in this part of Wisconsin as a name for cities, lakes, roads, streets, parks and attractions. Notably on Little lake Butte des morts and nearby Butte des morts golf course and country club. I believe the native Americans who lived here designed canals to access parts of there village. There is a couple of indoor bathrooms, not sure of when these are open and locked probably the same hours park has posted.. sorry not available I will update this I'm thinking like 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. that's my guess, they have a boat landing here plenty of parking for your truck and trailer... Not sure of the landing fee with ✓ the City of Neenah... Pretty sure you can do everything from your phone with a QR code not 100% sure but I will update this when I am. Read moreFritse Park is one of our favorites bc it has choo choo trains, tunnels, hopscotch, the ABCs, and tunnels for younger children while showing challenging obstacle courses for older kids, spider webs, and a massive bumpy metal slide built into a giant hill shaded by trees. Tons of hills for sledding too! And this park has a bathroom open and heated year round. There are security cameras in place as it has been vandalized repeatedly in the past.
