First visit, my mom use to come here with my Grandmother on road trips. Nice memorial to replicate the "face" that fell and good place to stretch your legs. Pretty spot by the water with a short walking path from the parking area that is wheelchair/ stroller accessible. Gift shop and restrooms on site that are open during visiting hours. We arrived after closing but still were able to see everything. Bring quarters for the times viewing binoculars if you'd like to see closer up.

I remember coming here as a kid and being so excited to see the face! So sad that it fell down but great memorial! I love that you can see what would have looked like with the outline posts. My husband never saw the face so it was nice that he could imagine what it would have looked like.

Glad I was able to see it before it collapsed. Still a beautiful spot for views and hiking. The first picture was taken before the collapse and the second picture was taken after and shows the remembrance monument.

In April 2003 my partner and l living near London UK had a fortnight's holiday in New Hampshire based at North Conway. On the 2nd of May we had a day trip in our rental car calling in at Franconia Notch to take photos of the famous State symbol. Imagine our surprise the next day to hear that it had collapsed during the night! Of course other guests blamed us saying it...

I used to come see this mountain every summer with my family as a kid. It was so sad when the old man in the mountain fell down, but this is such a great idea. I really didn't expect it to be as cool as it was. No matter what height you are you can actually see it just like I remember it to be. A must see...
