Free parking with some accessibility spaces, bathrooms (sometimes out of order), a pretty park at the bottom of the canyon, and an entire canyon super close to heavily-populated areas that makes you feel you’re out in the middle of nowhere! There really isn’t much to dislike about this place. Franklin Canyon is super cool and worth checking out - especially this place since it’s free to visit! Do keep in mind this is a canyon, and when it rains it can easily flood (as shown in some of my pictures). Be observant, and if the water starts rising on the road, turn around and head back! On a sunny day, enjoy the beautiful scenery!!

Very isolated (not busy) and kinda serene wilderness but still within Los Angeles city, I think. We found some challenging trails and some easy ones. I would recommend it if you need a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, even if only for a couple of hours. Even the drive there is enjoyable.

It's a good short pump of a hike. About 2.5 mile around, or about 4 if you just do the main trail in and out. Nice view at the top. NO SHADE! Bring sunscreen or long sleeves. Only 4 stars because unless you're done by ~9am, it starts getting very busy.

Great quick local hike. Not usually too crowded during the week. Slightly more crowded on weekends, as expected. Fellow hikers are respectful and offer a friendly smile. There are also some great side trails to explore.

It's really a shame that the developers are destroying the top of the trail. I've been hiking this trail for well over a decade and the peaceful natural wonder just keeps getting eroded away more and more. It's one of of the few remaining places in the area where we can get away from the chaos of the city for a few minutes....

any time of year or day, this serene oasis welcomes one with a dreamy tranquility and plenty of parking. be sure to arrive before sundown or after sunrise for the Beverly drive gate to be open accessible from the Valley side as well, make sure not to miss Franklin below intersection of Mulholland drive and Coldwater Canyon. Choose between beginner trails around the Franklin reserervoir and more strenuous ascent at the cul-de-sac parking lot on the south...
