If it was possible ,I would give this facility a minus 10.. In a nutshell…it is short staffed …. ,no one answers a telephone and patients are basically given needless medications..most of the help is not qualified,,barely speak English, and are very poor at looking at. a patients baseline and determining if something might be wrong.. Some can barely speak English ,and always answer they DO Not know when asked. Why do they constantly stand at computers in the hall.?…Don’t they write notes as shifts change ? . They are Re active….NOT PROACTIVE,! They are basic babysitters. !If you do not work and have responsibilities….you will have to annoy and pester to get Anything done….The social worker, Iliana does next to nothing and she is the advocate for the family? Kim never calls back….The head nurse Chris is the same. That is a joke. Some nurses, Like TINETTE, should go back to learn how to talk to people ,as she was one of the nurses responsible for my Husband going into Septic Shock. He had a Foley changed several times by an in - house urologist ….and seemed to go into sepsis within 15 hours. If you have your faculties ,you can speak for yourself, but you must be checking the staff All the rime. If you advocate for a loved one. It is very tiresome, and very very stressful…..Every-time of day ,they use the excuse that they are passing out meds….they can certainly set aside a special time of day ,like a lunch break of which they seemed to be on frequently….to call a patients family to update them….it takes a few minutes of f their time And eases your mind. The Administrator, Marty is useless…doesn’t follow thru or call back. At 81 ,my husband was taken to Robert Wood Johnson gasping for breath…..no one wants to see that ….and the EMT ambulance came and stated very clearly…..WE COME HERE A-LOT ….and see this. At this facility. The nurse TINETTE would not account for the hour when this happened. As a side note, my husband is now at another facility….Much cleaner , as the Regency in many areas was quite unsanitary,, non working air conditioning units in the height of the summer heat, and when we asked that they put a few things in a carton we wanted to move over to the new facility…we were given a box with broken glass and things were thrown in like garbage .They should be ashamed…….I hope someone from the State of New Jersey who inspects facilities comes to the Regency. Jewish Heritage .. In conclusion, our elder care in New Jersey is horrible. Most places ,in my well educated opinion suffer from much of what I said. You put your faith in the facility when you cannot care for a loved one and theRegency Jewish Heritage failed miserably. I commend the good nurses who are present and care about their patients. It is not an easy job,for sure…..but it is a job they chose and should be done to the best of their abilities ,as any job .I did not see that at...
Read more1 STAR Too many !!!My father passed away at the hands of this facility so I would think twice about leaving your loved one here . While there are some nice nurses and aides I believe if you can't advocate for yourself move on to the next place -swipe left .
Over a month ago my mom called the facility in the morning (her usual call )and the nurse said he wasn't as bright eyed and her response was "you know Mike isn't my only patient "-I have others on my list Seriously-what kind of response is that ???? My mom and I went to the facility consistently and when we couldn't get there -a 5 min phone call should not be too much to ask for . Needless to say -From 9:30 am that morning to 10:47 am no one could still tell us what happened .I walked into my dads room as he was gasping for air . 911 wasn't called immediately I questioned the nurse in charge -TINETTE and she wouldn't answer any of my questions .My dad could barely breathe when I came in the room and I kept asking what happened as you raced off the phone w my mom and said you were helping other patients !!!! EMTs showed up and they also proceeded to ask questions -what happened ??????? No response from a head floor nurse Super suspicious ..... Turns out I walked in on my dad in septic shock .The EMTs hugged me and didn't know if he would make it to the hospital My mom and I were on top of his care .He had a foley change 14 hrs prior and needless to say he developed sepsis at the hands of the facility .Foley change was done by a qualified in home urologist ???? This was the second time and too coincidental another mishap . At a certain age you understand things happen .but this was beyond Unacceptable! 1 month of being in a hospital trying to fix all the things that happened during septic shock was horrible .My dad left the hospital only to go to hospice and we never stepped foot in the regency again . You only hope your loved ones are taken care of but if your loved one has any form of dementia and needs a foley -I would steer clear of this place . Tinette needs to learn how to speak to people and possibly figure out a career change . Lastly -I reached out to the administrator of the building MARTY -I had to track him down and when I asked for a follow up - Surprise surprise I had to call back I wanted to know what happened in that hour - He said "I'm sorry your dad is in the hospital I'll follow up and call u back " He chose not to follow up at all SHAME on you , ,SHAME on this facility and SHAME on the owners for employing people who can't tell the truth or follow up ! I am a mgr myself in a different field and I can't believe the negligence ,lack of follow thru skills and non communication from this establishment. Please take this review to heart as I would not want to see another family's loved one suffer...
Read moreI wish I could give this place ZERO stars, because 1/2 of one is even too high. We placed our mother at the Regency for sub-acute rehab and what a nightmare it was We had to constantly REMIND the nursing staff to give our mom her seizure medication, every. single. night. At one point in time, they went 24-hours without changing or cleaning her. Sometimes they would leave her sitting in bed, unchanged until 1:00PM. When they would finally get around to taking her out of bed, there was a time when they wouldn't return her to bed until 11PM. I complained to one of the physicians, who told me that when she mentioned it to my mom's nurse and other nurses, they essentially shrugged it off and did not care. EVEN THIS PHYSICIAN AT THE FACILITY TOLD ME TO COMPLAIN AND THAT THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE. When we could call for the nurse's help, they would usually never come. If they did, it would take a minimum of 45 minutes to have they come do what we ask. Often, we would have to ask multiple times, basically badger them just to get the staff to TAKE CARE of my mother adequately. Finally, my mother's health declined one night and we had to transport her to the hospital. Although this night, it still took some pestering for the nurse's and even the nurse supervisor to come simply take my mother's temperature as we could tell something was wrong. Once we got the hospital, the nurse staff at Saint Peters Hospital noticed that she had a "pretty bad" bed wound on her back, which could have only happened at the Regency, since she went from the hospital straight to rehab. The aides who would change my mother at Regency must have noticed the bed wound and SAID NOTHING. NOR DID THEY ATTEMPT TO HELP HER. The nurse at the hospital that night also noted that the IV they placed in my mothers hand at the Regency appeared to be infected. Fortunately, the trip to the hospital that night was our chance to get my mother out of this hell hole. Please, if your loved ones require a substantial amount of care, DO NOT SEND THEM HERE. I will never send anyone I love to The Regency again. It is a joke of a place, and the nursing staff are nurse...
