We took our experience back in mid May and it was worth very pesos. My woman is familiar with horses so this experience to see wild horses was on both our bucket list. Interest fact-there was a guy added to our group taking this trip as part of his bucket list. Yea, he was dressed as the safari hunter from the Jurmanji move and abit older than us but let this be proof, dreams come in all ages. This was no 30 minute trail ride thru a park trail, this was real hard core experience in a canyon 30 minutes northeast from here just outside the tiny town of Cameo. literally in the middle of wild west territory. Horses are funny. They can sense your mood and they will mess with you and they like to hug the edge of the trail so u could look acouple hundred feet down. Every minute of our 2 hr trip was a visual experience. Tip #2-listen to the guide for what to wear. Even for May, the heat and sun was intense and you will drink abit of water so try to keep afew bottles cold. We didn't see any wild horses but had a experience of a lifetime for 2 disabled people in there mid 60's.

Rimrock Adventures provided us an excellent experience during our stay in Grand Junction. We found spots in the 2 hour horseback riding tour. Our guides were knowledgeable and friendly. My wife and I felt a familiarity from them you'd expect from close friends, making the ride that much more entertaining as we traversed the 'desert'. Everyone on the ride agreed that spring was the best time to go out and enjoy yourselves, however, I'm confident their tours will satisfy your need for some casual adventure regardless of the season. If you have an opportunity you MUST set time for this. You absolutely won't regret it.

We had a fantastic float! We did the 3hr+ trip from Grand Junction to Fruita. It was smooth sailing with just a few small rapids. There were two rafts, one for us and our friends, and another family that journeyed along too. Danica was their guide, and she was great. Our guide was Cam and he was fantastic! We all kept each other entertained with great stories, and he was very knowledgeable about the river areas as we went through. He even gave me a turn rowing. I'll let him keep that job. Lol! Thank you, Rimrock Adventures, for a great day!

I don’t know if they were just busy or overwhelmed or what was going on. We came all the way from SLC to Fruita, CO. Rented a raft. I was told over the phone two separate times to drive down the dirt road next to the main building and someone would meet us there on the beach with our raft. I was also told two times that we did not need a shuttle and that we could get in the water right there. Well the horribly rude, possibly menopausal, nauseating front desk worker miscommunicated everything. We ended up having to either pay $50 to shuttle up stream, or $40 to have someone drive my car downstream. Why in the actual F would I pay someone to waste my gas and drive my personal car a town over? The shuttle driver was way cool and even though he said he only worked in the boat house, he was way more knowledgeable, customer service oriented, and friendly than the front desk woman. He was ready to take us upstream, just asked us to go inside and pay. The front desk woman told me it was too late to go up stream (it was noon)?? I had given them my credit card number over the phone before our planned trip and I thought that was paying for it. I was not told in any way that that was just to hold our reservation. I was super confused because we had been camping for 4 days and I thought I had already paid since nobody informed me that was just to hold the reservation. The front desk woman just kept rudely stating “yeah we don’t do that” and it wasn’t until I asked why I gave my card # over the phone that she said it was just to be held. They seem extremely disorganized in the office. We were so excited for that day of rafting. Even an attempt to be customer service oriented or even a slight bit nice would’ve changed the...

The horseback ride was beautiful but started out awful. I am an experienced rider, I rode competitively for 5 years and have done lots of trail rides. When I went to mount my horse, he immediately started trying to buck me off. I was not even on him yet, I had simply put my foot in the stirrup. I now have bruising on my chin, and all along the right side of my body including my stomach and arm. The guide did handle it well and immediately switched me to a different horse, but also said that they just got the horse a couple of days ago. A company should never put a client on a horse that they just got a few days before without training him appropriately or seeing how he does on trail rides with less experienced riders than the guides. I am fairly experienced, but if they had put a beginner on that horse they probably would’ve been bucked off and hit their head. Also, the stirrups were way too high which I did tell the guide. She did lower them, but they still felt too high, especially to mount from the ground without a mounting block. Again, the guide did handle it very well and the ride was beautiful after I switched horses, but thought people should be aware of this. You do have to sign a liability waiver and horseback riding is dangerous, but I have dealt with bucking horses before and have never had this happen or had a horse start bucking simply by putting my foot in the stirrup.

UPDATE: a week later, I still have some bruising and went to urgent care where I was put into a splint/brace for one of my injuries...

As the Director of Middle School Outdoor Education at Shining Mountain Waldorf School in Boulder, CO, I have now worked with Rimrock Adventures on three major river trips through Ruby Horsethief Canyon. Each time, they proved to be an exceptional outfitter and partner, providing outstanding service and equipment for both our 7th and 8th-grade trips this year (and our 8th grade trip last year).

Throughout the planning process, their team demonstrated incredible flexibility, adapting to our evolving needs and last-minute changes with patience and a commitment to our program’s success.

Rimrock’s equipment is well loved but high quality and durable. They provided sturdy canoes, rafts, groovers, and camping gear; their team went above and beyond to ensure we had everything needed for a safe and rewarding experience (including a last-minute toilet paper delivery when we forgot it on one of our trips!).

Thanks to Rimrock Adventures, our students had an unforgettable journey that fostered resilience, teamwork, and a deep respect for the natural world. I wholeheartedly recommend Rimrock for any group seeking a reliable, flexible, and dedicated outfitter to make their outdoor...
