This was written from the prespective of a wheelchair user.
The trails themselves are scenic and relaxing for the most part, but as a wheelchair user they can also be annoying and challenging, enough so to make them almost unenjoyable. The whole park is in a creek bed and follows a small creek as it runs through downtown. The terrain around the creek is very steeply up hill. The paths themselves are manageable but there really needs to be signs that point to accessible routes as some paths lead to steps and force you to go back and try a different path to get around. There are also numerous small hills along the path and most exceed the ADA grade rules making a wheelchair struggle to climb them. There are also very long and steep hills as well which leave you tired and wondering if your ever going to make it.
There are a few play grounds for kids along the trail which look very nice for kids to play at. Also some pavillions but one I'd argue should be done away with as it is in the middle of the trail and trail users must go up and around the outside of the pavilion and this would disturb the pavilion events and guest.
Along the trail there are multiple sections where trails are bericaded off due to down trees and problems with the path. Many have been this way for some time and all along the trails there are multiple down trees and debree which should be cleaned up and addressed.
One thing I personally loved along the trail was the butterfly garden. There were some beautiful flowers and...

Read moreI truly love this park! Great for a morning run, family trip, or an evening walk. At the main entrance there is a pavilion you can reserve for special occasions. Half a mile down the trail is a second pavilion you can reserve with parking close by. The playground had been updated not too long ago, and is super fun for little ones. Behind the first pavilion there is a butterfly garden which is beautiful! Whilshire alone is a little less than a mile in/out. The trail is paved, and allows you to walk alongside a small creek. The trees give you shade mostly the whole trail. Multiple resting benches, gazebos, and for the little ones, 10 stopping points with fun facts about animals they can see around the area. This trail connects the Veterans Park and Longwood, making it a total of about 2 miles. Lastly, a scaled model of our Solar System, that begins at the Gainesville Square with the Sun, is placed in this park for small explores to...
