It's a long story....
I took my 2014 Silverado High Country to Atlanta Speedwerks for a misfire on cylinder 7, causing a loss of power. The issue was diagnosed in a very quick time frame, but the solution was by far more than I expected. I had a collapsed lifter due to a crappy design by GM. They put the AFM system into these trucks, and it was one of the most common complaints for system failure on all models. Before any work could be started, I had to approve a 9k bill for a worse case scenario as a full cam and lifter replacement would be potentially needed. I had to get my truck fixed regardless of the issue at this point. So, we spoke about a few options, then came to an agreement that worked for us both. We decided to perform a full DOD and AFM delete to prevent any further issues from coming up later on. Parts were ordered quickly, and the repair was started soon as all of the parts were received and verified to be correct.
Now for the fun part. I am that customer who is a bit too much sometimes....I call, text, and email constantly asking questions, looking for updates, and adding items not discussed at the beginning...Not one time did anyone give me trouble, or leave me hanging. Everyone was extremely polite, answered all of my questions, and never gave me the cold shoulder like most people would. Chandra did an amazing job in service, making sure I knew exactly what was going on with my truck throughout the entire process. Good news or bad news, she was there to help me anyway she could. Thank you for being an awesome person!!!
Chris, the technician...boy, he worked his tail off !!! His attitude was amazing, and the attention to detail was beyond outstanding!!! This is the technician you hope for when going to get service anywhere!!!! I can not thank this guy enough for his hard work!!! He definitely needs more praise for a job well done!!!
Last is the good and bad news.... We set a quote for my repairs. I added more items to the list, which obviously makes the bill go up. The starter failed during the time of being worked on, "I knew this was going bad and not a false repair." A few days went by, and the shop told me the truck was ready to go. I was extremely happy my truck was finally fixed! I rushed in and paid my bill, which was over 8k. I was told a code was still present, but the truck needed some miles put on it still to see if it went away. I made it about 1 mile away, and the truck was not running properly. It had sluggish take-off with a nasty noise in the engine when accelerating. I immediately called and spoke with the owner, Todd. He was very polite and said to bring it back, and he would put it back into the shop right away. Again, at this point, it still needed miles put on it to verify if it would level out. Unfortunately, I had plans already and had to wait a few days but was told it was safe to drive for now. The noise didn't calm down but only got worse. I returned the truck, and it went into the shop immediately for a re check of the system. I was worried the engine was failing after the kit was installed, blaming them honestly. That's a horrible feeling BTW , just knowing so much money has been invested into a truck, not worth much more than the repair. Well, I got the call it would be a few hundred more to fix the issue, being other parts had failed. I was stressed , blaming them, and did not think I should pay more when I had already spent so much to have the truck fixed, not worse? I vented to Todd and just about everyone in the shop... and... we spent a few hundred more...lol BUT I WAS WRONG!!!! They had to open the engine again... Welp....it just so happened. We got a failed lifter in the kit that was installed. THIS COULD NOT HAVE BEEN FORSEEN AS THE LIFTERS WERE SOAKED AND ASJUSTED PROPERLY!!!! Tore engine back down, replaced lifters and presto!!!! Problem Solved!!! Sounds and performs perfectly! The cost was high, but quality work is not cheap, and cheap work is not quality. But I am extremely happy! JOB WELL DONE...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you have PDK faults on your 911, avoid this place at all costs and take your $10K to Beckās European, BR Racing, or perhaps one of the other CA shops. Back in 2023, I shipped my 991.1 C2S here to repair a P173D speed sensor PDK fault. After having the sensors replaced with T design parts and the addition of a serviceable transmission pan + $10K less in my wallet, I was back on the road. Approximately 12,000 miles later I noticed my PDK was leaking so i brought the car into the dealer for diagnostics. The dealer provided a video clearly showing the leak coming from the serviceable pan. I showed this to Atlanta Speedwerks as this is a warranty item and of course something that should be covered by any upstanding shop performing $10K worth of work on your 911, but they REFUSED TO ACCEPT VIDEO PROOF and finally directed me to have a dye test performed by another shop to confirm the source of the leak. These guys kept giving me the run around until the results came back from the other shop confirming the source of the leak as the transmission pan. I provided this evidence to Atlanta speedwerks and only then did they offer to ship me a new gasket and transmission fluid- which they knew was a worthless offering that I would be forced to decline. They didnāt even offer to ship me a new pan, and i could clearly not use their parts as it would not be warrantied by another shop. They refused to cover the cost of the repair even though they were at fault! I could have shipped them the car and then id still be out hundreds of dollars for the service and thousands in shipping. I gave them several chances to make this right, but they would rather lose future business than make things right and cover the repair which was their fault to begin with- bad parts or a bad install. Fortunately my t design sensors / PDK internals are holding up fine. If these guys wouldnāt accept responsibility for what was ultimately a $1K repair, would you trust them to make it right if you have problems after a $10K repair? Youāre better off with another shop, avoid this one and move on to one of the other...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a customer who values transparency, professionalism, and integrity, I regret to say that my recent experience at Atlanta Speedwerks fell far short of expectations. My recent visit to Atlanta Speedwerks was marred by repeated errors, horrible customer service and a lack of accountability that left me deeply dissatisfied.
First and foremost, the primary reason for my visit was to address a specific leak with my vehicle. After assessing the problem, I entrusted the team at ASW to perform the necessary repairs. However, to my dismay, not only did they fail to resolve the issue adequately on the first attempt, but they also charged me again when I brought the car back, a job that should have been completed correctly the first time.
What truly compounded my frustration was the fact that I learned the parts I was supposed to receive were inadvertently installed in another customer's car. This egregious oversight not only delayed the completion of my vehicle's repairs but also raised serious questions about the shop's organizational competence and quality control measures.
Furthermore, the overall customer service cannot be explained in a single word. When I attempted to address my concerns with the staff, I was met with indifference and a dismissive attitude that only served to exacerbate my dissatisfaction. This further turned into the shop owner yelling at me through the phone, and nothing was going to be done about the exorbitant bill I received.
In light of these significant shortcomings, I cannot in good conscience recommend Atlanta Speedwerks to fellow consumers seeking reliable Porsche services. The lack of professionalism, attention to detail, and accountability demonstrated by the owner of this establishment has left me deeply disappointed and disillusioned.
My experience at Atlanta Speedwerks was marked by incompetence, poor communication, and a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction. As a result, I am left with no choice but to seek alternative automotive repair services in the future, where my time, money, and trust will be valued...
