Go 12 min west of Galveston State Park. Can drive on the beach at Beach Access #36. Can camp out there also. All free access. Please clean up after yourselves. Trash cans spread out along the beach for your use. Go to Galveston State Park afterward for $5 entry fee to take a warm to very hot shower. Can also camp at park for as low as $15 tent only site-get ahead of time or $20 tent w/electricty. RV is $35 and up. Check site for cost and to make reservations. Fri. and Sat. are likely filled up 2-3 weeks in advance. Weekdays they are even busy till Labor Day. But $5 shower/day pass is a great deal for the day. No parking a vehicle right on the beach, though. Be careful because there are a lot of beach access where you have to pay a fee to park or get a parking pass from the County. Not worth doing when you can just drive 15 minutes away and not have to...

Overall it's a nice beach but it's...
