The Playground is a hidden gem! This playground is absolutely fantastic, with a unique nautical theme that will delight kids of all ages. The play structures are sturdy, clean, and imaginative, with plenty of opportunities for climbing, sliding, and exploring. The rubberized surfacing is a great touch, providing a soft and safe landing for little ones.
But what really sets this playground apart is its stunning location right on the beach! The views of the Gulf are breathtaking, and the sea breeze adds a refreshing touch to your visit. You can even take a break from playtime and enjoy a picnic or a walk along the shore.
The playground is well-maintained, with clean facilities and ample parking. The nearby Fort Travis Seashore Park is also worth exploring, with its historic fort and scenic walking trails.
Overall, is a must-visit destination for families, beach lovers, and anyone looking for a fun and relaxing day out. 5 stars and highly recommended! Added the only 2...
Read moreThis is an awesome find for anyone who is interested in history or just exploring in general. You can really only see the outside of these forts and whatever you can see through the holes of the buildings or through the fenced off areas. I assume this is because it could be a danger if people were go inside for whatever reason. It's a shame that there is graffiti all over such a neat piece of history. WARNING: I took this trip in June 2025 and there were A LOT of small birds nesting in the corners of the ceilings. They didn't attack us at all, but they do fly down quite low and will startle you or your young ones. Except to get bit a few time by noseeums. And if it's been raining, there will be wet spots (see photo). Overall, I'd say this is a 4/5 location to go explore. If going, I would suggest bringing a strong flashlight to see more through the...
Read moreReally cool place to visit with the family. Tons of beautiful green grass that the kids loved playing in. Pretty brick path near the ocean. Small playground near restrooms for the small kids.
Took us about an hour and a half to walk two miles around and through the old fort. Strategically placed signs give information on the various structures. There were signs saying not to climb on top of the buildings, but everyone there was disregarding the signs. I'm typically a rule follower, but I must admit that we broke the rule and the views from the top were breathtaking.
Lots of history at this place, and with no crowds it was the perfect outdoor activity...
