A very good place to stop and spend the day. I would highly recommend the Juanito Bandito play. TJ Davis aka Juanito Bandito does a good job putting on the play. They are a blast to watch. Also during the intervention go over to There's to there snow cones shack where you can see some of the cast members of the play make you a snow cone.
Update
“I recently attended the Thick As Thieves show by Derek Davis with my brother. The show was great and I think the Davis brother do an excellent job coming up with shows. However, I had some trouble with my seating choice. I chose the very back of the balcony, which was not a good idea. The view was obstructed by the rafters that hold the roof up. Also, the steps to get in were difficult to climb, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you have trouble climbing stairs. If you’re looking for a better view of the performance, I would recommend either spending a little bit more money on seats that are not on the balcony or trying to get front-row seats on the balcony. Overall, I would...
Read moreThis place is the best. Been coming here for as long as I can remember. It never disappoints. We sat on the front row this time and really enjoyed the show. I had an 11 month old on my lap and although he was enthralled by Juanito Bandito's incredible mustache and the rippity rap-tastic music, it was really Luke Sheppard on the piano/harmonica/saxophone that entertained. He was unbelievable. My son couldn't get enough of that piano playing man. Luke snuck little waves and eyebrow raises that made my kid scream with excitement. It's the little touches like that that make Pickleville Playhouse something I'll continue to support for a long time to come.
Just watch out for the "Tornado full of dirty diapers that has picked up a lost Pokemon Go player." You won't be disappointed, trust me.
We didn't do the dinner this year, which we usually do. It seems to be hit and miss. The food is never terribly amazing, but it's not bad. It's been years since I've had the barbecue, so things may have changed. Strong work...
Read moreI had this playhouse recommended to me when I told people about my Bear Lake trip; the Juanito Bandito show in particular. So we were excited. I was instantly uncomfortable. The main character came out with a terrible fake mustache and an even worse accent. It was a complete stereotype. And it only got worse. Several times they made jokes about homosexuality and transgendered people. There was so much casual sexism. I actually looked around in amazement that the people around me were laughing so much. As if the subject matter wasn't bad enough some of the characters were so over-acted I felt bad for them. They were trying too hard to get laughs. The actors kept cracking themselves up but I just couldn't get on board with it. It just wasn't funny. I'm from Idaho, I understand the culture they claim to be spoofing. I've seen melodramas I really liked. This was just poorly written and down right offensive. 100% not worth the money I spent....
