This used to be my Wife and I go to place from 2 to 6 PM to listen to the Karaoke and to enjoy a burger and some drinks. Mind you this was before having our little girl and before the hurricane in 2017. Well this past weekend we decided to take a trip to the beach. My wife said lets go to the Garden City Pier so our little girl (10 yrs old) could sing a few songs. It was raining while we there so we sat along side the bar to get out the rain, no big deal we right beside karaoke so we were good. My little girl gets up to sing her first song "Heart Like Truck" which she knock it out of the park! The problem began when she went to put her second song in they wouldn't allow it, said it would encourage the other kids to sing!! " Cut into the ADULTS singing! Kids are good to play the ARCADES!!! I thought this peir was supposed to be a place that the family could go and enjoy themselves!!! Not if you have a child that loves to sing!!! Only one song they say!!! Hurt my little girls feelings!! My wife was ready to go right then but I was trying to get these folks to do the right thing and let her sing another song. Talk to the manager of the bar, which the KJ said she would be the one to talk to. The manger talk the KJ and he allowed her to put in another song. I sung a song and came back to sit down where we have been sitting the whole time we were there. That is when the bartender had a problem with us sitting there. She tapped on the shoulder and told me that my little girl couldn't sit there. My little girl wasn't sitting there anyhow, she was standing up in of me and my wife and we had our backs to the bar. We don't even drink, we were sitting there to get out of the rain. Yes the rain had stopped at that time but we wasn't there for the bar anyhow so I asked the bartender why they were picking on us for. So these folks made us leave because I address the situation as such as them picking on us. The manager knows to be as such because I had confronted her on why my little couldn't sing another song. Needless to say my little girl still didn't get to sing her second song. You would think they would encourage all kids to sing!! Atleast that is how it used to be not anymore! People wonder why their kids feel like they aren't included!!! You mess with my little girl, you wake up the bear in me and that is what the peir got from me!!! A pissed off Bear!!! I will say loudly like I did on that peir to everyone!! This place don't want your kids participating in the Karaoke!!! They want your kids to play the ARCADES!! What these folks don't realize is that you just pulled them out of the house from playing video games to have a Family Day away from the games...
Read moreThis was my first time actually walking on this pier with my friends to meetup for drinks, and I asked if we can bring our water bottles, and was told it's ok, so I brought along my metal water bottle, and my friends had their plastic bottles of water and coke. The guy guarding the entrance to the bar at the end of the pier told me that I had to put my metal water bottle under a chair, but he told my friends that they could bring theirs inside. I asked why I couldn't bring my water bottle, but my friends were allowed, and he said because mine was in a metal bottle. I thought that was unfair that they discourage bringing water bottles, but ok with ones you have to recycle. It should be that either all bottles are allowed or none at all because some of us put our water in reusable water bottles and walk the beach before coming in so we stay hydrated. If they are worried about people beinging alcohol in, then newsflash! Alcohol can be disguised and mixed in recyclable plastic bottles, too, but they are worse for the environment and fill landfills. Reusable bottles are better for the planet. Other than that rule, the bartender was nice, the band was not bad, and the sunset was spectacular. Their drinks are pretty overpriced, even more expensive than the drinks at the Marshwalk. Also, you can't bring your purchased drink near the dance floor just in case it will be your first time too, and you wanna cut a rug. At least we had a great sunset and nice...
Read moreIt is a nice Pier. Able to fish from many locations along the pier. Goes far enough for deeper water fishing. They have Arcade, ice cream, snacks, bait, fishing & other supplies in shop. Cigarettes are expensive so buy before you get there. They have 2 bars. 1 right at beginning of out side if piers building. Some covered area there. Alcohol is about as much as chain restaurants (4.50 for Corona cans bottles they cannot get at this time) long pier for fissing with fish cleaning stations with sinks & water. 2nd bar at the end of the pier. They have live cover bands starting at aprox 6PM til 11PM when bars close atleast starting in May til September that i am sure of. Alcohol is permitted on Peir just not inside building at front. Smoking is allowed in bars & on pier with ashtrays provided & cigarette disposal units along pier spread around. It is a good family environment during the day & night. Less people on it over past 2 months than normal probably due to people afraid of covid. Face Masks optional & have not seen many. I got down to Condo 5 minutes away monthly for 5 to 14 days. Nice place but its best to buy beer/alcohol & bring/have a couple on beach near pier before you go to pier to...
