Such a classic place to watch a movie. It has the flavor of the old cinemas with a large screen and tons of seats. I hope the owners keep this place a live. The movies they have are exactly the same movies as the other cinemas but the prices are much cheaper and affordable. They have Mondays at $5.00 dollars!! Which us unheard and Tuesdays the movies are subtitle in Spanish. The popcorn is not great but overall we love this place. It is family owned and we love supporting this theather instead of the big AMC or other chains; I encourage you to do the same to keep the past alive for our children who are now SO confused of their roots and have no sense of real community. Our kid's community is now through social media so many do not know a place where they belong. Old fashion theaters like this could give them a flavor of what it is to support real community icons. Iām so excited to find out thereās a family-run theater in the South Bay that that has cult/indie programming (as well as first-run blockbusters, I may be back for Barbie š) when usually Iād be driving all the way up to Hollywood or DTLA to see a film like In The Mood for Love or a secret Stephen King feature.
Cheers to Judy Kim for supporting local artists at this historic venue, and everyone who contributed to the Gardena Picture Show.
(The vintage seats inside were a bit snug around the hips for meānoting as a heads up for folks with bigger bodies, the seats are about the width of a standard airplane-seat and have stationary arm...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came to this theater to enjoy Wakanda Forever, 9:45pm showing. It was a late showing so there was approx 9 people but i have to say it was rather eerie. I kept thinking something was going to tap me on the shoulder. Anyway we got through the movie but my biggest gripe was the concessions. My friends ordered 2 popcorns that tasted like they were from days ago and a hot dog that wasn't edible. I didn't smell the scent of popcorn when I came in so I almost told them not to buy it but, they did it anyway and was very disappointed. The soda and candy were the only thing good. I do have to say that the young lady who was at the ticket booth, who sold us the tickets, who tore the tickets and sold us concessionsš as well was very pleasant. Kudos to heršš¾which is why this got 3 stars. Must do better with the concessions or...
