We booked 2/17-2/19 for a cheer competition for our daughter in Garland. I did call ahead of time and tell them I didn’t have the schedule, and that we would more than likely be late checking out Sunday and was told there was a $20 late check out fee. I paid 105.00 for 2 nights: Fast forward to Sunday, I called and advised them we would in fact be late checking out and was told if we couldn’t be out by 1pm (we were able to finish up awards and check out at 2pm!!) there would be an additional day in the amount of $75 charged to my card. I asked for an explanation because I paid $105 for 2 days, why was 1 day $75 and she was adamant that was “company policy”. She called back shortly after and told me she had made a mistake, and the charge would only be $50 and some change. I was frustrated because the park wasn’t even 1/4 of the way full, and I had told them the whole scenario before even booking, and we were one hour past the checkout. We have done this previously and paid a little extra and never had a problem. We have camped for 12 years. Even after speaking to her on the phone AND getting charged the additional $50 for a day we weren’t staying for, they had deactivated our gate code when we got back to pack up and leave (before 2pm)…. Moving on….the park is fairly new BUT they do have some permanent residents that are loud at night, and some that rev up motorcycles and get loud. Also, people in this park drive VERY fast, so we didn’t even let our daughter ride her bike but right by our campsite. We never saw anyone enforcing those rules. I guess that’s not in “company policy”. There are a few dogs parks in the park, and we used the one next to the Clubhouse because it was the closest and people do not pick up their dogs' poop. Also, you’re under about 10 overpasses and it’s LOUD. The only reason I gave it two stars is because the clubhouse/pool area is nice, but DEFINITELY will not be back.
Edit: 02/20/23 The resort Manager Leslie called me this morning and was very nice and apologized for the miscommunication. She advised the person I was speaking to was a new employee, and she was still in training. Leslie refunded the additional day we were charged and offered me a 2 night stay at a pull thru site for our next visit if we are ever back in the area. We usually only go to Garland once a year, but next time we will give them another shot. I appreciate Her reaching out. I understand being a newer resort there are some growing pains, and hopefully they will have worked through some of them before our next trip. Thank you again Leslie for your...
Read moreThis is a very nice park with very big concrete lots. They did have daily problems with the water in the park. They were constantly have to shut the water off . They certainly still have some kinks to work out with that. This park is also very clean. The ice machine absolutely never has ice. There is only one way in and out. So my daily walks are only around the rv park. Lots of concrete and you can hear the traffic on 30. Location was pretty darn good for where I needed to be. They rate poor with communication. They would send emails all the time daily as to why water was off again or office hours and even the grand opening party but nothing about the original rate being an introductory or moving in special. When we got here we were told that the lot was 1,000 a month. We travel for work so I look at a park for longer stays. When we got to the park we were never told about a rate increase that would take place at the 1st of the year. I probably would of selected a different park just because I was going to have to move so soon to another park just based on the surprise rate increase. The park emailed me and the other residents about the rate increase and they did to everyone in the park 30 days before. Which means I need to move Before January 1 (New Years Day) before my spot would be 1,800$ a month. After that email I got another email about the office has limited office hours for the holiday weekend. I was pretty upset the surprise rate email as of the 1st of the year when the office would not be open to check us out. It was very inconvenient and very strange timing to do such a hike in rates. When we checked out not quit two weeks earlier than the 1st we really had an even worse experience. Without too many more details it just really upset both me and my husband even further. I did get an email from someone from the office asking if there was something she could do to make it right because we really were very upset when we left. I know we were not the only ones they did this to so I tried not to take it so personal but after my stay at this park I am at now I do believe that Lakeshore could of been more professional about how they did go about the rate increase. So for that I would say the amount of money they are asking from this point on I would not pay. I still feel burned and same for my husband which is a shame. I could see how this could be a real nice place but we...
Read moreUpdate from July 2024. Continues to a great spot to camp and certainly at the top of all options in the Dallas metro area. Sites and facilities continue to be well kept and clean. Now have some covered spaces as well, which is awesome given the TX sun and heat! No issues with hookups. Did not use wifi.
30 mins to downtown Dallas. Newer resort/modern. Very clean and well run resort. Very nice pool, hot tub, outdoor seating areas and club house with full kitchen, game room, and nice laundry facility. Also has 3 dog parks. You can exit by the club house to walk the paved trail along Ray Hubbard Lake. We would stay here again because it is clean and well run, staff is nice and helpful, campers are nice and respectful, plus close to downtown Dallas.
All pads are concrete and roads are paved, so it’s a hot environment. Most have a patch of grass- great for dogs. It is an urban campground so sites are narrow but fine overall. Rows 1 and 2 have the best possibility of lake view. Some of the end sites of row 3 & 4 do as well. They reserve sites in each some to balance long and short term. All the good monthly sites in row 1 and 2 were taken while we were there. If staying in a monthly site, you also have to pay electricity. Not a cheap date when we were there in the heatwave of June & July. Balanced mix of long timers/monthly, people just storing there, and transient campers.
Full hook ups are easy and work well. We had no power issues over our 6 week stay. Wi-Fi is ok. We paid extra for premium and still got throttled in the evening just...
