Our big wedding kept having to get canceled multiple times with our original venue in our hometown due to all the COVID-19 restrictions. We finally decided to seriously look into going to Gatlinburg to have our wedding with just our immediate family and closest friends.
We we were so frustrated and kept having issues, stress, and the constant upset of changing everything again and again trying to have our big wedding at home that kept getting canceled! Thank you COVID-19!
I finally thought about just going to Gatlinburg and having something smaller. I talked to my fiance about having a smaller wedding in Gatlinburg and having our big wedding and invite everybody later. He said he was fine with just going to Gatlinburg and said for me to start looking into the chapels in Gatlinburg to see if I could find anything since we were last minute at this point.
I ran across several chapels online and started frantically emailing them to see if they had anything still available, since it was last minute. We had our vacation trip booked for Gatlinburg and already planned on being there anyway, so this seemed like it could work for us. Some chapels did not respond to my emails at all, others just wanted to email, but these people said call us with our details and they would try to help us!
From the minute I called, they jumped in and helped me to get everything planned, even though it was last minute. They had wonderful suggestions for my flowers and places to do our hair, etc. Even though I'm a really picky person, everything turned out just perfect! From the planning, to our flowers, to the wedding, even my hair looked amazing! Everything was perfect!
Our minister did an incredible job. So many things said during the ceremony really spoke to my heart! Our wedding at Honeymoon Hills turned out AMAZING! We could not have asked for anything to have been different.
I would say we got to have our happy ending after all! With what should have started as our joyous occasion for the happiest day of my life that quickly turned into the WEDDING PLANNING NIGHTMARE with COVID! To right after we got engaged, had our huge wedding planned for April in our hometown, and the venue had to canceling everything on us. Then moving the wedding date to May. Guess what? We had to cancel again! We still couldn't have our big wedding with all our friends so we decided to move it to Christmas, but I didn't know what would be going on then either.
I wish we could have avoided all the stress out and frustration! How many times should you have to cancel your wedding? I wouldn't wish a wedding on anyone with all this COVID-19 mess, but what can you do? I just wanted to say 'I DO' to my best friend and begin our 'together forever'! I always thought planning the wedding details would be the worst part and never dreamed that COVID-19 would take over all our plans again and again!
Again, we were so happy we thought of Gatlinburg and found Honeymoon Hills! I highly recommend this place! Their staff went over and above to help me make this all work out so that I was finally able to say 'I DO' to the most incredible man on earth! Hopefully next year when COVID-19 is behind us, we will have the big wedding celebration for all our friends in our hometown like we originally planned! But, even if we don't have the big wedding next year, we plan to have a big reception for all our family and friends and share the memories of our I DO's with our beautiful...
Read morePlease read to the end! My son & his wife recently got married at this Chapel. So many things went wrong...1st- the party arrived a little early and the gentleman reprimanded them and was rude to them as well as their guest. 2nd- while waiting, a couple of the party were relaxing in a cart that was in front of the chapel, the gentleman again was very rude...asking them to please not sit in the cart it was for display only! 3rd-the ceremony was supposed to take place in the Gazebo outside, due to Covid-because they did not want to wear mask for their wedding and photos. Turns out...a thunderstorm came so it was moved to the chapel. Once in the chapel, everyone was instructed to put their mask on in a very unprofessional manner. No, we did not like it and voiced it, but ultimately wore them. Now it was time for the ceremony to start, only to learn the preacher was running late...we waited 20 mins...that preacher was unable to make it so they had to call another preacher...waited another 10 mins...that preacher was stuck in traffic....waited another 15 mins....they said he would be here in 10 more mins! Once the preacher was there, the gentleman asked the whole party to move back 3 seats as the bride and groom had to stand down the aisle because the chapel was so tiny!!! One guest had to stand up! There wasn’t even enough room for the bridesmaid & best man to stand beside the bride & groom. Once the preacher started, he began instructing them what they needed to do and say....my goodness they had already been told this (not in front of the guest)! Then he rambled some so he asked the bridesmaid & best man to have a seat....who does that!!! When the time came to give the rings to the bride & groom, they weren’t even asked to stand and present them...the preacher just took them and handed them to the bride & groom...WOW unreal!!! 4th-time for pictures...all the pictures were taken with the bride & groom wearing their MASK...was so sad! These will be in their wedding album, this very special day, one time only! They took all kinds of great pictures outside without MASK. 5th-when presenting the pictures to them the next day, guess which ones were included in the package...yes, the pictures with the MASK....the others were an additional $200...that was the deal breaker..l could not believe they had the nerve to even ask for another dime after all these kids had been through!!! This was handled so unprofessional from the beginning to the very end. *I would not recommend Honeymoon...
Read moreMy daughter was married at the Honeymoon Hills chapel on July 16th. This is a lengthy review because there is so much backstory.
My daughter and her husband had originally planned a wedding for June 6th, however due to the infamous Covid conundrum the plans unraveled.
I researched wedding venues off and on since February. Once I talked with Honeymoon Hills I was impressed with their professionalism, and was so happy to see they were still in operation during this Covid quagmire.
They were always prompt with communicating and details. I appreciated the opportunity to pick an all inclusive package so as a mother of the bride I didn’t have to be a wedding planner.
We wanted a Christian ceremony in the chapel, and the intimate setting of the chapel was perfect.
Unfortunately, a week before the wedding the mayor of Sevier County issued a mask mandate. This is where it gets interesting...
I was contacted by Honeymoon Hills so they could explain the circumstances. At which time I changed the ceremony site to the gazebo. Not a big problem.
So here we are on the actual wedding day, and 10 minutes before the ceremony a thunderstorm rolls in. Now, I can admit there were some emotional individuals at this point. But fortunately both my daughter and son-in-law took it in stride.
Due to the torrential downpour, the scheduled minister could not make it due to a flash flood. The minister-on-call by the name of Mark Pedro arrived asap.
To be honest, like all weddings it was kind of a blur, so I am so thankful for the top notch dvd of the ceremony. The minister gave a very personable and faith-filled message. And he did that with little time to prepare that day.
If you are like me and you go through life expecting those perfect Hallmark moments don’t be disappointed when life throws you a curve ball like a so-called pandemic.
Immediately after the ceremony the sun was out!! We all stepped outside where the photographer took some beautiful photos.
If 2020 has taught us anything it is we are all in this together!! The minister used the metaphor of life being like a river, flowing around obstacles and bends. Never a truer statement.
Of course my daughter wasn’t happy about wearing a mask. Later she told me one of the reasons why. Because I did such a good job on her make-up!
I can tell you this, they will have quite the wedding...
