We really enjoyed camping here. It was a quite place to get out into nature. The mountain bike trail was short but awesome. My two year old son loved riding along with me. He also hiked a good bit of the trail as well. This was our little girls first camping trip. We caught a few fish, and my son enjoyed stomping through the shallows in his rain boots. The view of the lake was super cool. This park does not have an office. They are operated under the office at Richard B. Russel State Park. Plan on being back before 10pm if you leave the park because the gate automatically locks, and they do not give out the code like Fort Yargo State Park.

It is a KOA. They are in the process of expanding and adding to the campground. They don't have the normal stuff you find at most KOA but they are in the process of adding stuff. Most of the campsites are close together especially the ones with the decks. But we stayed on site #36 and #37 we had privacy but the hill going down to the lake is no joke, be ready to get your exercise on. We was at the end of the cove. All in all very nice and clean campground.

This is another place I don’t know if I should share how great it is. The check in and out are wonderfully easy. The spots have an amazing view and decks with fire rings and picnic tables. So comfortable. Great dog runs. Separation between two lets litttles and bigs play safely separately! Fun bounce pad for kids. The comfort station is clean and convenient. Just don’t share this hidden gem of a camp it will book quickly!

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. We were there for 3 days only because we paid in advance online, the only way to check in. The bathrooms were filthy the whole time we were there. On the last day someone hosed the floors off but didn't touch the sinks at all. There was still old toothpaste and bugs all over them and the commodes and showers looked like they weren't touched either. My husband said the men's were just as bad. All the lights outside the restrooms were either blown or turned off. You couldn't even see to get to them at night. The grass was knee high the whole time we were there in the whole park. There is no check in or check out. You just pick up your site pass off of a board. You never see anyone. The gatehouse and the main park building is completely boarded up and looks like they haven't been used in years. We talked to several different people that said it used to be an awesome place but not so much now. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. At 2 am there was a very loud and drunken man bellowing profanities at the top of his lungs telling everyone to shut up.... Waking up the whole park. Nothing was done. The whole place seemed to need a...

No enforcement of rules. We had a neighbor who was playing music really loudly. Host said, "we can all them to turn it down." ASK? it's in the rules... Someone finally called the sheriff's office and the music went away. Golf carts are allowed but we were treated to a parade of golf carts driven by teenagers for around an hour after dark. I worried about letting my boys walk out of our site. The rules say that you must have a driver's license to operate... Laughable... The park is beautiful, I'm afraid that it's headed down hill. A call to the listed phone number is answered at Bobby Brown SP. I'm sure budget cuts are to blame. Too bad, not sure we'll be back... Edited to clarify that this review isn't aimed at the facility itself, it's more about the State and the people...

This park is no longer a state park and is owned by the city of Hartwell. We stayed in mid June 2020 and it has really went down hill since our last visit 9 years ago. The bathrooms were horrible and always dirty. Only one bath house for the entire campground. We didn't see any staff the entire time there except for one guy mowing grass. The campsite next door had up to eight vehicles visiting at night when the limit was 2 vehicles. Cars were parked everywhere along the road and other campers could barely squeeze through. They were even parked in the woods. Some campers were very rowdy with vulgar language and seemed to stay drunk 24/7 and very loud way into the night. We will...
