We took the historic district trolly tour and it was probably one of our favorite things we did on our vacation. It was fun and interesting to learn about the history of the island and how things came about there. I really liked that they give you an earpiece to hear the guide talk through. He made the 90 minute tour and history telling fun, although, I do wish he wouldn’t have talked quite as fast. I also loved that it wasn’t crowed with them only operating at half capacity. I’m not worried about germs as much as I just don’t like to be packed in like sardines and it was nice to not have to push through a crowd in the tours through the homes. Do book ahead or show up early though as they do sell out quick since they are only taking 20 guests per tour right now. The trolley seats were actually pretty comfortable. I thought they were going to be hard metal but it was a plastic material which wasn’t too bad. Cushioned seats would be a plus. Initially I thought it was a little pricy for $20 per person but afterwards, I saw that it was a great value. We didn’t even get to make use of the admission to the chapel but it was nice that it was included. The mosaic museum and gift shop were nice also. I would definitely recommend it.

The Mosaic is a really nice museum of Jekyll Island History. The museum features many things form Jekyll Island History like the Horton House, English and Spanish settlers, the Jekyll Island Causeway, and more. I really liked the place and how you can interact with it. You can touch multiple things in the museum, go inside a sailing boat, go inside a canoe, build your own block dream house, and even go inside a 1940's car that you can imagine going down the Jekyll Island Causeway. It was pretty interesting. There was also a gift shop full of interesting things such as the "Jekyll Island Chronicles". It looked pretty entertaining, but I did not get it because I was trying to save my money. Anyway, really nice museum.

The museum is very tiny with very limited exhibits, but is still interesting. I wouldn't pay to go just to see it, but the trolley tour includes admission to the museum, Faith Chapel, and going inside one cottage and is worth the fee. You can go to the museum and chapel the same or next day as your trolley tour, which is especially nice and you can even go to each more than once during that time. The stained glass windows in the chapel are spectacular and each looks best at different times of day, so definitely check with the staff and find out the best times to go to see each one at it's peak beauty.

I honestly expected to be bored because it's fairly small and designed for kids but it's very interactive, informative, and well done. Adults will learn plenty and I had a lot of fun playing with my kids. Highly recommend if you're interested in the history if the island (any time period). Had mixed feelings about the Wanderer slave ship exhibit. They had a very well done mockup of the interior if the ship, but it was disconcerting seeing kids laughing and playing where enslaved people would have been in chains. Still, I was very glad to see the exhibit included.

The Jekyll Island Historic District was a highlight of our visit. You'll want to visit the museum and take the trolley ride (both are included in the price of your ticket). Our driver/narrator grew up on the island. He was wonderful! He was very knowledgeable on the history of the island, the club, and the buildings/homes. We found the most interesting was the stories about the wealthy elite club members and those that worked/served at the club in that era. A definite must do! Thank you, Georgia, for preserving the island from further development.

My son and I took part in the ranger walk with Andrea, Mike and Joy last weekend and had a blast! We learned a lot of great information about plants and animals and getting to see the eaglets in their nest was very cool...as was seeing alligators for the first time not in a zoo! (Don't worry, they were on the far side of the pond and apparently they don't eat anything in winter lol). My only regret is that we attended on our way out when we should have scheduled it for the beginning of the trip!
