The garden is small and there are more peony signs than actual peonies. The peonies in the little garden were not looking very well, and the ones the the field near by were just a few scattered though the wild greenery. None of the peonies look like they were ever taken care of, and the most unpleasant was the invasion of little flies attacking you everywhere. My friend had to run n the car because the insects were relentless. It’s definitely not worth driving all the way there, nor paying the entrance fee. You get to see more beautiful peonies around people’s houses in D.C.. Photos were taken on Sunday May 19.

Beautiful smaller specimen garden with dozens of varieties of peonies next to a large field with acres of scattered peonys popping up through the tall grass. Be aware that in the field there is lots of poison ivy growing in the grass, so you should stay on the mowed paths if you're sensitive to it. Plenty of parking when I went on a weekend during peak bloom, second to third week of May. $3 per person entrance fee on weekends, free on weekdays. Restrooms a short drive or walk away at the tire playground.

4/28/25 many buds are quite full and big and should be opening soon. Is it worth a drive from far? Probably not, but looks like it’ll be a beautiful bloom and worth checking out if you’re here. Other poster’s comment about poisons ivy is so true— the smaller garden w the gravel path is fine but the big field, where there’s many spread out small peony plants, is covered in poison ivy ☠️. Beware. (I have to go home & wash feet and shoes right away).
