The Sleeping Bear Point Coast Guard Station/ Maritime Museum was a fascinating place. Volunteer Interpretive Staff Dan & Helene are excellent personalities who took the time to not only learn the history themselves, but continue to share it to visitors.
All the buildings have been well kept, as has the equipment. Fascinating historical items and details of the United States Life Saving Service, the precursor to the United States Coast Guard, and how they attempted (and often) helped ships/sailors who ran aground on Lake Michigan.
I would definitely recommend visiting.

All the rangers were very kind and informative and the area was well kept. Glad we...

We arrived in the early afternoon and there wasn’t too much of a wait to enter. I highly encourage visitors to purchase their passes at the Visitor Center or other designated locations prior to going through the main entrance so the entrance time decreases. On our way out there was a line of vehicles almost to the road you turn off of to head...
