The performance tonight with Chris Botti was unbelievable, I waited 20 years to finally get to see him. Such a great musician and glad he had Andy Snitzer join him. The band was fabulous. Glad I got seats at the front tables. On the other hand we purchased the VIP package and was very disappointed. $30 a piece for 2 glasses of Prosecco, a tall glass of low end Pinot Grigio, 4 small crackers 5 pcs cold shrimp, 2 cold pieces of bones less chicken on a skewer, a few grapes and cubes of cheese and some fruit plus 2 small petite cake pieces. I was asked by the director who came through if all was ok and I stated they ran out of crackers and cheese. Was told they would see about that and never saw anything come out. We were told our IDs would get us back in for more but no need since I was told by bartender they ran out of food. They did put out their reserve tray of shrimp but we never got any of it. Would have liked a little cheese and crackers to take in to the performance. How can you run out of cheese and crackers. Already bought VIP for the next performance of Four Tenors and will be requesting a refund if the experience is the same. Granted there were many in line a head of us and it looked like they were loading up on all the food but this was not fair to the rest of us. Catering should have been better prepared. What a...
Read moreNice, if limited, museum (more of a gallery really), with a very nice and helpful staff. It is hard to give it any kind of general "review", since the experience is almost completely dependent on the collection being shown. We were there for the Frida Kahlo touring collection (all from the Dolores Olmedo Museum, so many of her better known paintings are not present, though a lot of additional material (photographs (her father was a professional photographer) and artifacts that would not normally be seen are part of the exhibit), and it was very well staged. Parking is free and abundant, which is a good thing because you will be driving there. It is quite out-of-the-way for us (more than an hour by car) so I'm pretty sure it unlikely that we will be back...
Read moreMcAninch Arts Center is a wonderful space for a concert. Lucky for me I saw Kirk Muspratt, director and composer of New Philharmonic Music, playing tribute to the legendary tribute to John Williams. The New Philharmonic played a great variety of well know favorite movie scores. The MAC has a perfect ambiance for theatre and performances. Sound was stellar with no feedback or vibrations outside of the performers. Stage, projector and lighting are fantastic. Seating is comfortable and at the right pitch and support. Staff and service at intermission are fantastic. Everyone here wants to be here supporting the arts and it shows. Will be back to take in a movie and explore the McAninch Arts...
