With so much to do at Brand Park, it’s hard to know where to begin. Rain or shine, this 31-acre complex situated at the base of the Verdugo Mountains in Glendale offers many things to see and do for all ages. On-site there are art galleries, sculpture areas and a library. The Whispering Pine Tea House and Friendship Garden is a great place to relax with a hot beverage and some sweet treats. The Doctor’s House Museum is where you can tour a historic house that was once the home of actress Nell Shipman. Also on site are basketball courts, baseball fields, playgrounds and a series of hiking and cycling trails.

Very nice park with many different trails for all skill levels. Went up the Seven Trees Trail. Was much more challenging than I expected, especially the final incline to the top lookout point. I didn't use any walking sticks, but most people had them and they would've definitely helped on the final incline. There are many different lookout points, places to take pictures, and just to rest. The inclines vary, but for the most part it's a steady climb. The views take your mind off the efforts.

I've been on this trail several times with my boyfriend and for me, this is one of the hardest trails that I've been on. The actual trail itself is fairly short, about 2 miles, but it is STEEP. Most people just go to the benches (which is the halfway point to the top) and back, but a few times I've ventured all the way to the very top and wow what a workout!

Even if you were just to hike to the benches, the view there is really beautiful. You can see all of downtown LA. But once you make it all the way up to the top, you get a better view of the mountains and and the surround city.

For me, going down this mountain is the hardest part since it is so steep and since I'm not the most balanced person in the world. I usually fall several times on the way down.

One thing that I do like about this trail, is that it is never crowded ever, unlike other parks like Wilacre and Runyon Canyon. It seems like not a lot of people know about this trail, but it is a great hidden gem in LA if you...

I hiked all the way up from the right side of the trails, not the fire road, I hiked with my worn out Keen boots tried hard not to fall using my hiking poles, they saved my back, I went up all the way to Boudry Blvd towers, then hiked to Brand Motorway then 5 miles down to the park, I ran out of 3 litters of water and I had no more protein bars. It was a great hike, I ran the whole 9 Miles in 4.5 hours with many stops to rest and take pictures. This is a great moderate hike, make sure you take at least 5 liters of water, protein bars, a good hat, hiking poles, dress lightly, with light colors specially in the hot summer days, sun screen, gloves, and my at e a change of clothes, if you perspire a lot. And most importantly, bugs pray. And have fun, try not to listen to music, listen to the nature, bird, bees, the wind, there are two mountain lions up there, one male and one female. One in the Verdugo mountains and one in the Burbank area. Just be vigilant and keep an eye out...
