The gardens and swamp are great, but the planners and IT folks for the Haunted swamp are totally incompetent. Attempted to purchase 7 haunted swamp tickets on the day the sales opened for Saturday the 18th at 7:30, website said purchase failed, tried again said failed again. Called and was told the site had crashed and I would have to wait till the following Monday to purchase. I then check my credit card and found I was charged for 2 purchases of Haunted Swamp tickets) $210.00 ea. and 5 General admission tickets for $25.00. Not counting the Paystar charges. I called back and told them to cancel the $25.00 charge and one of the $210.00 charges. Checked the next day and they canceled both of the $210.00's and left the $25.00. Called back and was told they could not reinstate the one charge for $210.00 (7 tickets) and would have to reorder the following Monday. On the following Monday all the tickets for Saturday were sold out so I purchased 7 tickets for Friday at 10:00 (all that were left and had to purchase 6 and 1because the web site still was not working correctly). We show up Friday and am told the tickets I purchased were for Saturday and I would have to come back. I told them I was not going to do that and since they had messed this up from the start they should just let us in on Friday. Another woman said there was no room to let us in but she would give me free tickets for Saturday, to which I responded no thanks just refund my money and she answered "there are NO REFUNDS". At this point i was just done and told her that since Cypress Gardens were the ones who created this cluster, I just wanted a refund. Then another woman stepped in and agreed to contact whoever had the ability to refund me. After about 10 minutes I was informed that they had refunded me. Sad way to treat customers at the start of the Holiday Season! I also did not mention the 5 messages i left during the time this all transpired that were never returned. Just total incompetence from the it department to...
Read moreThis was my first time going in about 10 years and it was a beautiful, natural sight. I went with my husband and 3 year old and we all enjoyed ourselves. Now that it's been reopened from the flooding and hurricane we had about four years ago, the area has been revamped. They still have some areas they are improving, for the most part there's lots to do. This is where the Patriot and The Notebook was filmed.
Key Notes on what to do while you're there: Paddle boating, you can either guide your own group (which is free) or get a guided tour (which is not free). Walk the multiple trails and gardens Visit the gift shops which has some souvenirs, toys, coffee, snacks, drinks and ice cream. There is a great playground for kids, there is a big covered picnic table area by the playground Visit the butterfly house Visit the reptile house Visit the two huge alligators (they do have a fence around them) Visit the bat hotel You can hold your wedding ceremony and reception There is a dining hall to hold big events There are multiple gazebos on the premises
Note: there are alligators out in the open rather in the water or on land, do not let kids get close to the water and be careful when walking through the woods. Not that is happens too often that you will encounter an alligator but it's better to be safe and keep an eye out.
If ever chased by an alligator run in a zigzag route, they will not be able to keep up with you very long and you should be able to get away.
Overall this place is a wonderful attraction and would...
Read moreI loved every piece of this park. I brought my 18 month old son & we stayed for four hours! He could of stayed longer but it was closing time. I’ve never had an outing entertain him that long. The playground ? Amazing. For bigs & littles. Butterfly house? So cute. Swampquarium? He loved it. Snakes, fish, turtles, a small alligator. + 2 big alligators (fenced in) outside of it. The trails are gorgeous . But I could imagine it would be hard managing multiple littles on parts of the trail if you couldn’t put both of them in a stroller. We used the stroller for 1/2 of the trails & he walked by me the other half. There’s gardens to explore. A cemetery that entertained him for a while. Multiple wooden swings that were lovely. We sat on them & sang songs. I wanted to do the boat tour but decided too late & couldn’t get tickets. The tour guides that I overheard sounded entertaining & knowledgeable . It looks like a very smooth paddle ride . There’s also self guided boat tours when available . Don’t forget the birds! If the rather is above 59 degrees Fahrenheit multiple parrots & peacocks are on display. The ticket prices are VERY affordable compared to other nature parks in Charleston. I was able to get my son in for free & I used my military ID to get in for $6.50. I will be back many times . It’s midnight & I felt the need to come and rave on them because this place deserves it. Love love love . I went on a cloudy Thursday around noon & stayed until close. Wasn’t busy & I very...
